Head: Currency Operations Division – Ref: HCOD

Purpose:

The Head, Currency Operations is responsible for ensuring that the division works towards achieving its objective of issuing, managing and redeeming of the currency of Lesotho.

Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Ensuring proficient and prudential oversight of the Division’s operation to avoid systemic currency failure in the banking sector.
  • Shall ensure that the Bank on demand is able to issue notes and coins both in Maloti currency.
  • Assist the Bank to recommend to the Minister of Finance to prescribe by public notice the denomination, forms and designs, of the notes and coins to be issued by the Bank.
  • Assist in the detection of counterfeit money.

 

Candidate will have to:

  • Comply with laws, regulations and guidelines that govern the operations of the Currency management in Lesotho.
  • Be Proactive and timely response to emerging challenges and market dynamism by deployment of supervisory methods in line with international best practice and informing policy where necessary.
  • Meet the currency demands of the customers of the Central Bank of Lesotho
  • Manage risks relevant to a central bank as the agent for the issue, exchange and withdrawal of currency.
  • Preparation of annual work plan and progress reports.
  • Preparation of annual Divisional budget and variance report.

  • Minimum requirement of a Master’s Degree in any one or more of the following:
  • Accounting, Finance, Banking, or equivalent professional qualification or CA.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience of which three (3) years is at a managerial level.
