The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation seeks to appoint a HCT/Research Counsellor to be based in Tutu Teen Truck Mobile Clinic, Philippi, Cape Town.
Duration: One Year Fixed-Contract
Requirements:
Grade 12
HIV counselling and finger pricking course
1 year experience of working with adolescents within the health sector
Computer literacy with sound knowledge of email, word processing and internet Fluency in English and Xhosa
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
Maintain confidentiality
Administration skills
Must be able to work individually and as a member of a team
Client focused
Must be detail-orientated
Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends
Advantageous:
Experience in a research-related position
Driver’s license
GCP certificate
Knowledge of HIV
Responsibilities:
Providing welcoming and supportive environment to adolescent clients regardless of race, gender, or HIV status
Provide basic HIV/ARV/ PrEP education to participants individually and in groups
Accurate and complete questionnaire administration
Follow-up telephone calls with study participants
Assist with recruiting patients for research studies on the TEEN TRUCK
Assist with community surveys.
Assist with filing research forms and patient files.
Maintain strict client confidentiality
Capturing study data on mobile app
Weekly and Monthly progress reports on research participation (recruitment, enrollment and retention)
