CALL FOR GROW GREEN AFRICA (GR2A) MSC SCHOLARSHIP (INTRA-AFRICA ACADEMIC MOBILITY SCHOLARSHIP) (COHORT 3)

Applications for Scholarships are invited from suitable candidates to pursue studies and research in Green Computing. If you intend to pursue studies in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science and Geographic Information Systems, focusing on sustainability – you qualify to apply. The project consists of five participating African institutions which are: the National University of Science and Technology (NUST Zimbabwe), Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST Namibia), the Copperbelt University (CBU) of Zambia, Rhodes University (RU) of South Africa and the University of University of Eswatini (UNESWA) of Eswatini.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates wishing to pursue studies in:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Data Science
  • Management (with a focus on sustainability)

Programme Focus

Building climate change resilience through smart green technologies.

About the Scholarship

The Grow Green Africa (Gr2A) project is sponsored by the Intra-Africa Mobility Scheme of the European Union.

The project aims to address climate change challenges through knowledge exchange in green computing among African students and academics. It promotes innovation in sustainability through teaching and research.

To date:

  • 6 PhD scholarships awarded
  • 16 Master’s scholarships awarded

This third call targets 22 MSc scholarships.

Partner Institutions (Group I)

  • Copperbelt University (CBU), Zambia
  • National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Zimbabwe
  • Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), Namibia
  • Rhodes University (RU), South Africa

Group II Institutions

  • Other African universities outside the consortium, including institutions within eligible African countries

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must belong to either:
    • Group I: Registered/admitted in or graduated from partner institutions
    • Group II: Registered/admitted in or graduated from other eligible African universities
  • Must be a national and resident of an African country
  • Must not hold another scholarship under the same programme
  • Must not have benefited from previous Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Schemes

  • Master of Science in Computer Science

  • Groundwater modelling

Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition fees covered
  • Research costs covered
  • Visa and insurance costs covered
  • Monthly stipend:
    • €1,230 (PhD)
    • €890 (Master’s)

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following (as one PDF file):

  • Motivation letter (maximum 800 words)
  • Project proposal in the chosen field
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certified copies of academic certificates
  • Certified copies of National ID and passport
  • Proof of admission or offer letter
  • Three (3) reference letters
  • Completed application form (downloadable from the Gr2A website)
