This position, which reports to the Board and Regional Director, is available with effect from the 1st of September and would suit an individual who possesses gumption, drive and has entrepreneurial spirit.

The Group CEO is a strategist, a relationship builder, a visionary, a communicator and a leader who will be responsible for all Metropolitan International’s business operations in Lesotho.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Develop strategic- and annual business plans and budgets for the companies and present to the Board of Directors for approval;
  • Ensure that the organizational structure, management team and staff are aligned to implement the strategies and business plan;
  • Optimise the physical infrastructure and systems for the business to operate functionally and cost effectively;
  • Implement the strategic plan for the merger between Metropolitan and Momentum in Lesotho to realise the financial, market, customer, staff and other benefits possible by the merger.
  • In particular the Group CEO must meet all production targets, ensure the ROI hurdle rates are met for the investment shareholders have made and achieve integration and cost savings synergies as per the Merger Plan.
  • Be accountable for the management and performance of all subsidiary companies of the Group in Lesotho
  • Develop and introduce profitable and competitive products and related services into the target markets through the various distribution and service channels;
  • Formulate and implement corporate policies (adhering to good corporate governance), operational procedures and financial controls;
  • Manage the day-to –day activities of the business to meet financial / profitability and related objectives;
  • Be the official spokesperson of the company in Lesotho
  • Adhere to statutory reporting and other regulatory requirements;
  • Growing the business in a sustainable way to maximise shareholder value;
  • Keep the Board and Regional Director appraised and informed of all important matters pertaining to the effective operation of the company; and
  • Any other such duties as directed by the Board and Regional Director from time to time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An appropriate business post graduate tertiary qualification (e.g. B.Comm and/ or MBA);
  • At least 10 years of directly related executive management experience;

·         Must have a solid, in depth understanding of the business environment, processes,                          legislative and industry requirements

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, planning and execution;
  • Strong track record of developing significant networks, working with a range of stakeholders and playing a key collaboration building role;
  • Commercial acumen with a background of delivery and the ability to recognise and capitalise on commercial opportunities;
  • Exposure at Board level and an in depth understanding of governance and regulatory issues;
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, meet target and to identify efficiencies;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate executive management teams;
  • Proven work standards and business ethics;
  • Well-developed planning and organising ability with strong problem solving and judgement skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful candidate must be a Namibian citizen
  • The candidate appointed in this position must be independent and not have any direct shareholding in any shareholder interests in the company or subsidiary companies or must relinquish such shareholding.
  • The successful candidate must qualify to be appointed to the Board of Momentum Life Assurance Lesotho and Metropolitan Life Lesotho
