If you’ve ever taken an online course, you already know that 99% of them suck. The world has the ability to create incredible cinematic experiences, but the status quo for online education is having a dry, uninspiring instructor talk to the camera for hours on end. In an ice cream parlor of unlimited flavors, everyone else has opted for vanilla. We have our eye on the blush-pink rose and saffron double-folded gelato topped with perfectly toasted pistachios and honey-caramelized lavender.
Jumpcut is a Y Combinator company, and went through the startup accelerator in summer 2016. We create cinematic online courses with some of the world’s biggest influencers. Our founding team has years of experience creating binge-worthy content — and now we are on a mission to interrupt the online education industry by creating courses for the modern world that are as addictive as your favorite TV show.
Role Overview:
We’re launching a new course this summer and we need you to design assets and make our marketing and landing pages pop with custom illustrations! You will be working closely with our VP of Content and our Product Team to create undeniably beautiful designs that showcase our push for excellence. We’re currently going through a complete re-brand, so you will be creating illustrations for our site and other platforms using fresh-out-the-oven brand guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Create compelling on-brand graphics and illustrations for promotional and marketing pages
- Design portions of the landing page for our new course (including header asset, illustrations for page sections, etc.)
- Take ownership from concept to execution of iconography, banner, and thumbnail design
- Partner with UI/UX to create user-centered digital and brand experiences
Role Requirements:
- A visually striking portfolio showcasing custom illustrations and a strong design sensibility
- Highly conceptual/creative – you can take a rough idea and see it through concept to completion
- Proven record of creating assets for different dimensions
- Must be proficient and highly skilled in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (or similar software such as Corel, Sketchbook)
- Always learning and staying up to date with design trends and best practices
- Fluent in verbal and written English
Additionally, you may be a good fit if
- You have contributed to creating websites and landing pages and can provide samples
- You have an exceptional eye for color palettes and incorporating textures
Compensation, Perks, and Culture:
Compensation is competitive and dependent on experience. This is a contract role.
