Purpose of Activity/Assignment: Production of visual and audio-visual communication materials for the Social Policy section and Lesotho Country Office at large, contributing to the achievement of the Country Programme, especially those of Outcome 3 as well as other outcomes of the 2022/23 rolling work plan.

Work Assignment Overview: To produce visual and audio-visual communication materials for the Social Policy section as well as other sections as needed, contributing to the achievement of outcome 3/output 3.3 as well as other outcomes and outputs of the rolling work plan.

Scope of Work: The objective of the consultancy is to support the social policy section and UNICEF Lesotho through the production of quality visual and audio-visual communication materials. The consultancy will contribute to the achievement of the Country Programme (CP), especially those of outcome 3. Main activities and tasks include: 

• The consultant will be engaged in a variety of assets that may include Reports, Frameworks, Strategies, Infographics, digital drawings, Geographic maps, PowerPoint presentations, among others.

• The UNICEF Lesotho office will be sharing materials with the graphic designer in a word or raw form. It is crucial that designs for the work are stable, compelling in style, and in conformity with the UNICEF look book.

• For each assignment, the graphic designer in consultation with the supervisor, will advise on the actual number of days to accomplish the specific task. • Work with the Social and Digital Media Contractor to publish the respective files to the online platforms.

• Production support: Liaise and coordinate the printing production of certain publications and materials.

• Carry out other tasks as needed under the supervision of the Chief of Social Policy and Social Policy Officer. The consultant will be based remotely and communication with the UNICEF team will be done mainly through Microsoft Teams. The consultant will be supervised by the Chief of Social Policy and Social Policy Office.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education

BA in fine arts/digital art and/or multimedia design, journalism, communication or related fields.

Experience

  • 2 years of relevant experience in production of visual and audio-visual communication materials.
  • Proven experience in using Adobe Photoshop/ Illustrator/ InDesign/ After Effects
  • Strong graphic design portfolio demonstrating breadth, creativity, and craftsmanship
  • Proven experience in Video editing.
  • The ability to animate vectors with any software will be an asset.

Language Requirements

English is required. Sesotho proficiency would be an asset

Administrative issues: • The selection and conditions of service of consultant will be governed by and subject to UNICEF’s Policies and General Terms and Conditions for individual consultants/contractors. • No contract may commence unless the contract is signed by both UNICEF and the consultant/contractor. • Consultant/Contractor will be required to complete mandatory online courses (e.g. Ethics, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Security) upon receipt of offer and before the signature of contract. • Consultant/Contractor will be required to sign the Health Statement for consultants/contractors and to share an applicable proof of health insurance covering medical evacuation (if travel is involved) prior to taking up the assignment.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
