The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) is one of the largest biodiversity conservation NGOs in southern Africa. Its work is supported through the EWT’s Communications and Marketing Department that represents the critical connection between the EWT and the outside world. The Communications department is the custodian of the EWT brand, the organization’s voice, both internally and externally, and brings our broader strategy and culture to life.

EWT seeks to appoint a Graphic Designer to be based in Johannesburg.

This position forms part of the EWT’s Communications team and focuses on fulfilling all the EWT’s design requirements internally and externally, including the design work for all digital platforms and tools. The successful applicant will be joining a creative and engaged team to work on exciting and relevant conservation content.

The successful candidate should be an experienced digital and graphic designer with a keen eye for detail and proficiency in the following minimum requirements for this position:
Responsibilities and tasks:

Technical skills required

Proficiency in the full MS Office suite
General knowledge of the full Adobe Creative Suite, with proficiency in:
Adobe InDesign
Adobe illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe After Effects
Adobe Premier Pro
Adobe Lightroom
Experience in working on, and designing for, WordPress
Marketing and advertising for digital and print
Knowledge and experience in printing and preparing designs for print

Working closely with other members of the Communications team to ensure well-rounded and cohesive campaigns and products.
Aligning corporate identities and brand management
Emailers using Mailchimp/Everlytics, or similar
Design for Social Media Posts and stories
Design for GIFS and animations
Design of corporate brochures and presentations
Photography and photo editing
Web design and UI/UX design principles
Typographical and layout skills in respect of magazines and booklets
Video Editing
Ability to bring briefs and concepts to life and aligned with the EWT’s vision, from conception to delivery
Understanding and incorporation of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and colour

The following are not required but would be advantageous:

Understanding of GoogleAnalytics
Basic understanding of HTML and CSS (not required but beneficial).
Cross-platform campaign development
