Grants/Project Administration and Reporting – OnePower Lesotho
Part/Full Time – Remote Work Possible

OnePower (1PWR) is seeking an individual with experience in Grants/Project Administration and Reporting to manage data flow between Project Sponsors and the on-the-ground team working to deliver electricity to rural villages and health facilities in Lesotho.

Lesotho, a startup Independent Power Producer (IPP), has been selected as the preferred developer of a 20MW solar PV power plant in Lesotho (the first in the country). In addition to on-grid solar OnePower was incorporated with a mission to develop bankable pay as you go
(PAYG) solar mini-grids for community electrification and is currently in the piloting stage in Lesotho, with roll-out of 10 community minigrids and 7 health clinic upgrades in the next 18 months.

This work is supported by a range of sponsors, including USAID (US), EEP Africa (EU), CarbonTrust (UK), ElectriFI (EU), and REPP (UK), each of which has different reporting requirements and success metrics; this role will build on existing internal systems to streamline the reporting process (integrating information from field teams, finance team, and management). This role has opportunity for growth, particularly into the following areas: HR, educational program development, grant development support.

Responsibilities of the Grants Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding, maintaining, and updating company sharepoints (Dropbox) with Project Sponsors and with Project Partners for ongoing projects and due diligence requests
  • Developing reporting processes and templates appropriate for each Sponsor/Project that are in compliance with contract requirements
  • Ensuring collection of appropriate data, as required to complete project reports, including: working with Onepower team to develop questionnaires and surveying as needed, working with finance team to collate expense reporting, working with Onepower field team to aggregate photos and progress reports into report format
  • Presence on weekly/monthly/quarterly calls with Sponsors, including: developing call agendas, maintaining familiarity with information required by sponsors for responsiveness to questions, detailed note-taking and filing of Meeting Minutes
  • Contract management for existing projects (e.g., awareness of milestone schedules, coordinating with Onepower team to achieve timely report submissions)
  • Development, updating, or verification of project budgets vs. project expenses
  • Compliance audits
  • Reporting to senior management and acting as the point-person for all grant administration and project reporting activity
  • Creating reports and giving presentations internally and externally
  • Learning and using collaborative and organizational tools and techniques such as
    ToDoList, Whatsapp, Kumu, work breakdown structures, etc.
    Required skills and experience:
  • Minimum 2 years work experience demonstrating background / familiarity with grant management and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office (word processing, presentations, data processing) software, including professional document formatting
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field


Administrative information:
• This position is eligible for part-time work (minimum of 50% time commitment).
• This role is eligible for 100% remote work, although coordination will be required (including attending weekly meetings) with a team based in the Central Africa Timezone (CAT). Use of Microsoft Teams for audio/video conferencing will be expected.
• For individuals working remotely, annual visits to Maseru, Lesotho will provide opportunity to interact more directly with the OnePower team and mission.
• For individuals residing outside the country of Lesotho, this position will be configured as a consultancy (self-employment) hire. For individuals residing in Lesotho this position will be benefits eligible.
