Background

LENASO is a national network established in 1991 and legally registered in February 1994 (Registration number 94/53). Over the past 30 years, LENASO has been actively engaged to promote and advocate for Primary Health Care and community based implementation of interventions to curb HIV & AIDS, TB, Gender Based Violence (GBV) Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in the community. The network further plays a pivotal role in coordinating community health and HIV activities through establishment, revival and maintenance of community based organizations (CBOs), support groups and other community structures. LENASO is famous and exceptional in promoting HIV prevention services, promoting social mobilization for uptake of services; promoting case identification; referrals and linkages to the health services; promotes patient tracking back to care and promotes retention in care and sustainability to HIV and TB response.

The Network is looking for highly qualified and energetic CANDIDATE to fill the position of GRANTS FINANCIAL MANAGER.

Job Tittle: Grants Financial Manager

The Grants Financial Manager, reporting directly to the Executive Director has primary day-to-day responsibility for financial management and oversight of a grant portfolio consisting of the LENASO most complex awards. This includes developing and revising grant budgets, preparing and submitting financial reports, analysing allocable expenses and formulating projections, and ensuring compliance with all funder requirements and policies, including 2 CFR 200 for Federal Awards. The Grants Financial Manager will also collaborate closely with donors and partners. The position will support review and development of appropriate policies and systems to manage grant activity and reporting, and will help ensure integrity of all financial transactions and reporting in the context of grant awards. The position also directly supervises one Staff Accountant.

Key responsibilities, Experience, Capabilities and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of grants management or finance and budget management experience in a not-for-profit environment, with thorough understanding of GAAP and major donor standard requirements.
  • Proficiency with Fund Accounting preferably Pastel/ SAGE Intacct accounting system or any similar.
  • Superior knowledge of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills, and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in working with financial data and databases to extract and consolidate financial information for various reports and reporting formats.
  • Proficiency in MS Office-including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple-donor funded projects
  • Ability to write wining donor funded projects
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate clearly and effectively to move projects and activities forward.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and sustain the social enterprise
  • Profound knowledge of managing VAT in donor setting
  • Strong experience and ability to use discretion and deal handling sensitive and confidential matters in a professional way.
  • Must be detail oriented, a self-starter, and have leadership initiative and facilitation skills and the ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good team player, Good Work ethics and   Self-motivated
  • Strategic management and people management skills including building strong and good relations with donors, partners, sub-partners with robust knowledge in managing the disbursement of funds in line with requirements and agreement schedules
  • Strong negotiation, diplomacy and Good Policy Development skills
  • Ability and willingness to undertake periodic field travel to up-country and in insecure areas.
  • Fraud Risk Mitigation and Response management skills with ability to ensure the financial risk assessment is maintained and updated. 
  • Ability to identify financial management capacity gaps and training needs assessment for staff and partners
  • Ability to prepare, coordinate and manage donor and statutory audits and address all the findings 
  • Lead on the award and sub granting process  with regular reviews of relevant and current strategies
  • Ability to sets ambitious and challenging goals, future orientated, thinks strategically and on a global scale towards sustainability
  • Approachable, good listener, easy to talk to and demonstrate respect to others
  • Develops and encourages new and innovative solutions and willing to take disciplined and calculated  risks.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting or Business Administration from a recognised university. Possession of a postgraduate qualification or professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICSA etc is an added advantage.
