Job Description:

Purpose of the Position:

Under the direct supervision from the Grant Acquisition Lead, the Grants Acquisition Officer will lead the development of high-quality grant proposals for government agencies, multilateral and bilateral institutions, and major foundations to support WVIL around improving the lives of Most Vulnerable Children (MVCs) in Lesotho. The position will work in a highly collaborative cross-team environment across departments, technical programs staff, cluster managers and other staff.  With managerial and technical support from the Grant Acquisition Lead, the officer will ensure grant proposals are developed and fully compliant, efficiently supported, technically clear and accurate, and adhere to donors’ requirements and WVIL strategic focus. The incumbent must be able to effectively build and manage relationships with partner and donor agencies, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Donor and Partner Relationships (75%)

  • Proactively develop and nurture relationships with donors, partners, and WV Support Offices to identify new funding opportunities to meet funding gaps and/or growth in programs/projects, which respond to needs in target communities. (25%)
  • Provide support to other Grants Acquisition team members leading high value proposals. (15%)
  • Reviewing funding opportunities in accordance with WVI policies (currently using the Go/ No Go tool). (15%)
  • Conduct partner due diligence and partner capacity assessments in accordance with WVI policies. (20%)

Proposal to Project handover (15%)

  • Lead and/or support project start-up activities and ensure quality handover of proposal design and donor expectations/ requirements to the project operations team once the proposal is funded.

Strategy, Planning, and Reporting (10%)

  • Support the development and monitor the implementation of the resource acquisition strategy and business plan, including reporting GAM metrics.
  • Provide information that feed into the weekly grants acquisition report.

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

  •  University Degree in a relevant discipline (in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Business Management, Economics, Management or related field).
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience in an international NGO;
  • Relevant experience in managing relationships with donors and partners and understanding of key donor requirement (e.g., USAID, EU, FCDO; UNICEF; UNDP; World Bank);
  • Minimum of 2 years mobilizing funding from bi-lateral, multi-lateral and large private funders;
  • Work experience with other international organizations, large NGOs and/or governmental development agencies;
  • Proven skills and experience in project management and program development.

Remuneration: Competitive with market standards
