About the Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF)

The Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF) is a participatory climate justice fund that channels resources from larger climate funders to community-led climate justice initiatives addressing both the impacts and root causes of the climate crisis.

CJRF supports women, youth, and Indigenous peoples to develop and share their own climate solutions. The organisation provides grants in:

  • The Bay of Bengal
  • East Africa
  • The Arctic

CJRF also manages a global portfolio that supports:

  • Global advocacy efforts

Consultancy Overview

As part of preparations for implementing a new strategic framework, CJRF is seeking a consultant to support the identification, selection, implementation, and training of a grant database system.

The successful consultant will assist CJRF in identifying a database solution that meets current and future grant management requirements.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be expected to:

  • Assess staff needs and priorities regarding grant database functionality
  • Identify suitable database options
  • Present recommendations, including the advantages and disadvantages of each option
  • Support staff in selecting an appropriate grant database
  • Test the selected database to ensure it meets organisational requirements
  • Configure and set up the database
  • Upload historical grant information into the system
  • Train staff on effective database use

Database Requirements

CJRF currently manages approximately 100 grants, including both completed and active projects.

The selected system must be capable of:

  • Managing historical and active grant records
  • Supporting future grant-making activities
  • Accommodating organisation-specific grant management requirements

Working Arrangements

This is a fully remote consultancy and may be undertaken by:

  • An individual consultant
  • A consulting team

Applicants may be based anywhere in the world.

The consultant will be expected to:

  • Participate in approximately weekly voice meetings with CJRF staff
  • Work effectively across time zones, particularly:
    • GMT
    • GMT -4 (Eastern Standard Time)

Applicants should have:

  • Reliable internet connectivity
  • Experience working remotely with distributed teams

Priority Areas of Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of grant-making and grant management databases
  • Experience assessing database needs and providing suitable recommendations
  • Experience supporting mid-sized intermediary organisations with annual budgets in the USD 10–15 million range
  • Knowledge and experience working with Salesforce

Additional Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Be able to schedule meetings across multiple time zones
  • Be comfortable engaging with multiple staff members and stakeholders
  • Be available between August and November 2026
  • Be comfortable working in English

Deliverables

The detailed scope of work and final deliverables will be agreed upon during the inception phase of the consultancy.

Contract Period

  • Start Date: 01 August 2026
  • End Date: 30 November 2026

Compensation

The consultancy contract will be administered through CJRF’s fiscal sponsor, the New Venture Fund.

Maximum Contract Value: USD 35,000
