Storm Mountain Diamonds (Pty) Ltd (‘SMD’) operates a kimberlite diamond mine at Kao, Lesotho. The kimberlite pipe is the largest in Lesotho and the fourth largest in Southern Africa. SMD is jointly owned by Namakwa Diamonds Limited and the Lesotho Government.

GRADUATE HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS PARTNER

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the purpose of this role is to acts as the HR Business Partner (HRBP) by providing subject matter expertise and best practice. Empowers managerial leaders to become effective People Managers by building capacity, providing tactical and operational support across the full range of HR activities, ensuring adherence to SMD standards,
policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

i. HR Service Delivery

  • Understand customer expectations and provide HR advice and support to managerial leaders through the provision of services across the full range of HR activities, including learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits queries, expatriate support, employee consultation and employee relations.
  • Ensure all aspects of HR support are delivered in a timely manner, and in line with Group guidelines and HR practices.
  • Provide a performance managed, delivery focused and effective service to the business by demonstrating comprehensive understanding and application of HR systems, processes and administration.
  • Prepare reports and graphs to ensure that people related decisions are informed by relevant data and trends and that HR delivery is appropriately measured and monitored
  • ii. Organizational development
  • Enhance individual, team and business performance by applying knowledge of change management, organization behavior, employee engagement and organization effectiveness;
  • Drive change and delivery of the Human Resources implementation plan through a holistic, ‘system-wide’ view of the organization.
  • iii. Resourcing
  • Facilitate the attraction, engagement and on-boarding of individuals by effectively applying resourcing tools and processes in line with SMD’s Employee Value Proposition, current and future resource requirements, the diversity agenda, legislative requirements and best practice thinking.
  • iv. Employee Relations(ER)
  • Establish relationships with unions and functional specialists
  • Support managerial leaders in progressing disciplinary and performance issues by providing guidance in consultation with SMD HR Experts.
  • Proactively identify possible risks to relationships and influence, consult and provide guidance to mitigate risk
  • Keep line informed and capacitated in terms of disciplinary policy and process; discipline applied consistently within SMD


EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
i. An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors/Honours Bachelor’s degree or
equivalent) in a relevant functional discipline, e.g. Human Resources, Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Business Management or equivalent
ii. Two (2) years working experience in an Industrial Relations environment is an added advantage of fulfilling the HRBP role within the HR function
iii. A recognised specialist in the understanding and application of HR practices and approaches
iv. Should have HR generalist experience with an understanding of all aspects of the HR function
