Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the Grade 1 class and implement the Grade 1 curriculum in line with school and national guidelines.
- Develop quarterly/termly schemes of work and age-appropriate daily lesson plans.
- Deliver engaging lessons using effective teaching methods and varied instructional materials suitable for young learners.
- Assess learners’ developmental needs and academic progress, and maintain accurate assessment portfolios and class records.
- Ensure a safe, clean, healthy, and well-organised classroom environment.
- Set and enforce clear rules and routines to promote positive behaviour and effective classroom management.
- Communicate respectfully and frequently with learners, encouraging confidence, independence, and creativity.
- Participate in school meetings, events, and appropriate extra-curricular or co-curricular activities.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by the Head Teacher/Principal in support of school goals.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Diploma in Education Primary, Early Childhood Care and Development, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in primary.
- Experience working in an English-medium primary school will be an added advantage.
- High level of English proficiency (spoken and written), with ability to teach and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong classroom management, lesson planning, and assessment skills appropriate for young learners.
- Patient, caring, disciplined, and committed to the holistic development of Grade 1 learners.
