JOB PURPOSE

The Girls of the Move (GoM) Field Coordinator is responsible for working with groups of vulnerable Girls in the communities and in alternative care facilities including CYCCs. The Field worker will be responsible for training and sensitizing Health care workers, CBO staff and cultural mediators on the health care needs of girls in migration. The Field worker will establish a trusting relationship with the Girls on the move and provide SRHR education and referrals to essential services to ensure that migrant girls are empowered and increase demand for services to improve migrant girl’s well-being.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct beneficiary Identification screening, registration, verification, assessment, and structure beneficiaries into groups.
Coordinate and facilitate Sexual reproduction health and rights group sessions.
Conduct life skills group sessions.
Monitor and supervise the implementation of identified income generating projects for girls.
Conduct one-on-one monitoring sessions and offer additional support to beneficiaries as required.
Conduct community-based dialogues and facilitate gender dialogues on migrant girls’ / boy’s rights and gender equality in migration.
Coordinate and support the Implementation of the Social and Economic Strengthening core package.
Provide linkages and referrals to stakeholders and services as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a post matric training such as a Diploma or Degree in Community Development or other equivalent relevant qualifications
A post graduate qualification in social sciences will be an advantage.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Proven experience with community and development work (including being a peer educator, a community care worker or other voluntary support work).
Experience in facilitation of group sessions and gender related work would be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Save the Children South Africa’s core values. Experience of volunteering with SCSA will be an advantage.
Driver’s Licence.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and working virtually.
Ability to develop Human Interest stories / case studies.
