Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum qualification requirement is a BSc/BA, B. Tech, BSc /BA Honours degrees or their equivalents with specialist training in Cartography, Photogrammetry, Surveying or Geo-Informatics; plus, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Cartographer and/ or GIS specialist in any organization. The prospective candidate should possess ample knowledge of advanced Cartography, GIS and remote sensing skills and be able to undertake cartography, GIS and remote sensing laboratory preparations without supervision. In addition, the prospective candidate should be able to assist/guide students perform their practical’s in the GIS and cartography laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing/planning laboratory sessions and supervising students during cartography, GIS and remote sensing laboratory sessions,
- Providing assistance, technical support and training on cartography, GIS, remote sensing to the students
- Maintaining the GIS & remote sensing laboratory hardware and software and ensure that up to date software is used,
- Collecting GIS data using various methods of data input into the GIS
- Demonstrating the use of traditional cartographic equipment like the stereoscopes, theodolites etc. to the students
- Carrying out flight plans for drones/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), as well as geo-referencing, mosaicking and analyzing the UAV data (A drone license would be an added advantage)
- Laboratory housekeeping, including handling of equipment and minor repairs and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Keeping inventory of maps and maintaining the map room, laboratory equipment and software.
- Administering GIS and Remote Sensing software online credentials for students and researchers at NUL
- Ordering of maps, map making and general cartographic equipment.

The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Employment type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
