Gift in Kind(GIK) & Commodities Officer

Reports to ; Grants and Aquisition Management Manager

Location; National Office, Maseru

Purpose of the Position:

To develop innovative and create means of promoting the Gift in kind Ministry in the national office as well as the APs, Grants Projects and other programs

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

GIK Partnership Coordination 15%

Maintain relationships with World Vision GIK Global Group Procurement/Support Offices on behalf of the National Office GIK needs

GIK Policy Oversight 5%

Ensure that the Lesotho Office GIK Policy is well understood and adhere to by all staff

GIK Planning and requests 10%

Facilitate the preparation of the National Office GIK fiscal year planning chart for submission to support Offices.

Prepare special GIK requests for strategic grant and match purposes.

GIK Logistical Coordination 25%

Coordinate the receiving of all GIK commodities items in the Lesotho Office. And Ensure that inventory is taken of all GIK commodities are delivered and received.

Facilitate the distribution of GIK received; ensure that it is distributed in the shortest time possible and within six weeks of receipt.

Ensure that establish GIK Supply Chain Mgt System is adhere to.

Representation 5%

Represent the National Office at seminars, meetings, Workshops/Conferences and participate in joint agency needs assessments/Task Force Teams

Proposal Design and Support 5%

Develop, initiate and implement plans and strategies for the GIK Programme and to develop marketable proposals to access GIK for the National Office

Participate in project design, proposal writing and budgeting process for opportunities with GIK and food or non-food commodities

Security of GIK 5%

Ensure adequate security and safety of all GIK commodities and consignments received.

Commodity Tracking 10%

Maintain a comprehensive commodity tracking systems so as to ensure that all commodities are properly distributed and accounted for to WV Partnership and major donor standards.

Assist program manager(s) with the designing of tools that will be used for monitoring and tracking of GIK commodities.

Reports 10%

Facilitate preparation and submission of various GIK management and other reports such as monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and special reports.

Develop success stories and messages on GIK for external sharing and promotion

Personnel Management 10%

Effectively manage the GIK Management unit staff.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

1. A university degree or equivalent

2. Preferable: A degree in: – Supply chain, Development studies, Accounting, Agriculture, Economic, Logistic Management

3. At least 3-4 years of professional experience at Manager lever or leadership position

4. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and a proven ability to train and mentor staff and peers

5. Personal commitment to Jesus Christ, World Vision’s mission statement, and the core values of World Vision

6. 2-3 years of experience in Non Food and Food programming, and supply Chain management field

7. Training on non-food items or food tracking systems an added advantage

8. Experience with WV GIK systems an added advantage

Work Environment:

Work environment: Office-based with travel to the field.

The position is contract based (End of contract 30th September 2022)
