We are seeking Geospatial Technician candidates who have a strong interest and aptitude for working with geospatial data. The hired Geospatial Technician will work within a team and will be involved with the mapping component of the project.
The hired Geospatial Technician will be exposed to industry leading technologies, multiple data types and a wide array of processing software and methods. There will also be the opportunity to develop professional experience in international mapping and cleaning standards using ArcGIS, Microstation & Photoshop and learning from industry experts.
This will be a contract position. Numeration will be R 11 000 CTC.
Requirements:
- Must have at least a 2-year Diploma or at least two years of related experience. Preferable to have a bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, or related field
- Must have a strong working knowledge of geomatics concepts (academic and/or professional)
- Strong Microsoft Suite, ESRI, and CADD experience is a plus
- ArcGIS and Microstation experience are a plus
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Aptitude for quickly learning multiple new geospatial software programs and techniques is a plus
- Must have the ability to work well in a dynamic team environment and demonstrate flexibility with assigned tasks and schedules
Responsibilities:
- Support other data analysts in editing and classifying geospatial data.
- Demonstrate care and attention to detail while working with geospatial and supporting data
- Create products from geospatial data under direction from colleagues and supervisors
- Work efficiently to help meet project deadlines
- Other duties as assigned
