Moruo Developments is looking for a competent and qualified General Manager. The incumbent must have a post graduate qualification in commerce with strong competencies in Strategic Management, Operational Management, Financial Management, Marketing, Personnel Management and Corporate Governance, and must have at least 5 years managerial experience to manage the various demands of the position.

Strong computer literacy is required in both mainstream computer applications such as MDA Propsys, as well as more localised products such as Sage VIP Payroll. Sound knowledge of all Office applications, especially Excel is essential. The incumbent should have good leadership, management, analytical, administrative and communication skills. The incumbent must be strategic thinker with sound business acumen, result-oriented, self-motivated, confident, and outgoing with initiative and the ability to work independently and under pressure.

Job Role Description

  1. Strategic Management
    1. Strategic and Financial Planning, Forecasting, Budgeting and Execution
    2. Preparation of Board Packs, Executive Packs and Annual General Meetings
    3. Regulation and Implementation of Processes, Procedures and Policies
  2. Operational Management
    1. Attendance to Shareholder queries, complaints, administration, and buy/sell management
    2. Provision of first-class security, hygiene, and maintenance services for the Mall
    3. Manage occupancy of the lettable area of the Mall, manage tenants, tenant billing and defaulters
    4. Attendance to tenant/customer queries, complaints, and assistance where necessary
    5. Adherence to NOSA and health and safety regulations, emergency drills et al
  3. Financial Management
    1. Source facility management opportunities and submit tenders/offers for them
  4. Marketing
    1. Marketing strategy development to promote the Mall as a destination shopping centre
    2. Stakeholder relationship management
    3. Public relations
    4. Tenant marketing and advertising
    5. Sales
    6. Venue décor conceptualisation and execution
  5. Personnel Management
    1. Application of Human Resource Compliances and Management of Staff
    2. Payroll and remuneration processes

Each of these fields require a different skill set and there are different training requirements for each one. What follows are the competencies and skills required to achieve the objectives stated previously and the level of training required for each. Ergo the training plan.

Educational Requirements

  • COSC or Matric
  • Bachelor of Commerce – Honours or Equivalent

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years at a senior management level involved with strategic planning, budgeting, and execution of the company goals and objectives
  • Sound knowledge of public share issues, structures, rights offers and buy/sell of public shares
  • Experience in the Lesotho Labour Code, appointment of personnel, replacement planning, staffing, promotion processes, personnel evaluation, disciplinaries, terminations and severance
  • Experience in dealing with Lesotho Taxation, and other legislative structures, VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, Company Tax, Provisional Tax and Deferred Tax
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity and wiring, and other first line repairs and maintenance
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail marketing
