We are currently looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual in the position of General Manager: Health based in Maseru, Lesotho. The incumbent will report directly to the Managing Director.

POSITION OVERVIEW
To manage the overall performance of Metropolitan Health Lesotho by providing strategic input, overall leadership, mentoring and
performance within the business unit as well as creation, execution, monitoring and performance of the strategic objectives of the Business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as an advisor to the Metropolitan Health Lesotho Board and provide critical advice on industry and market issues that are
    likely to impact the business and ensure efficient coordination and execution of the Boards’ and MM’s turnaround mandate to
    Management.
  • Define the vision and strategy for the Health business in Lesotho and develop an aligned value chain in relation to the organisation’s mandate in collaboration with the Product House, Africa Segment and Group.
  • Drive the implementation of strategic projects for the Health Business in line with country or business strategic objectives and
    measure the return on investment of projects and new technology.
    Identify opportunities to leverage off strategic relationships and alliances to build new channel, distribution, or growth opportunities.
  • Formulate and drive appropriate growth strategy taking into account client acquisition through existing channels as well as
    potential alternative channels or client acquisition strategies.
  • Direct and manage the creation, implementation and maintenance of Health Business capabilities, products, and solutions to diversify product offering and profitability.
  • Develop and implement service models within the company to ensure client satisfaction consistent with our Client Experience
    Strategy.
  • Manage the Health Business risk matrix.
  • Optimise the physical infrastructure and systems for the business to operate functionally and cost-effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

-An appropriate business post-graduate tertiary qualification (e.g. B.Comm and/ or MBA).
-At least 8 years of leadership experience, with minimum 4 years directly related to senior management experience.
-Experience in health insurance and/or financial services environment (desirable).
-Must have a solid, in-depth understanding of the business environment, processes, legislative and industry requirements.
-The successful candidate must be a Mosotho.
-The candidate appointed in this position must be independent and not have any direct shareholding in any shareholder interests in the company or subsidiary companies or must relinquish such shareholding.
-The candidate must meet all regulatory requirements
