About the Role
TransAfrica Life Insurance Company invites suitably qualified and motivated Mosotho nationals to apply for the position of General Manager – Finance. We are seeking a strategic, analytical and detail-oriented candidate to oversee the financial health and efficiency of our organisation.
This role requires a forward-thinking financial leader with a strong technical background in accounting framework and its implementation. The successful candidate will oversee the entire finance function — ensuring sound financial management, strategic insight and full regulatory compliance — while driving operational excellence in a fast-evolving business environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Finance Division, overseeing all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting of transactions in accordance with applicable standards
• Ensure full compliance with accounting framework, tax laws, regulatory requirements and reporting standards.
• Supervise the preparation of management accounts, financial statements and board reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop and execute robust financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s growth and capital efficiency objectives.
• Strengthen financial controls, risk management and internal audit processes to safeguard company assets.
• Lead external audits and liaise with auditors, the Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) and tax and trade authorities.
• Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Executive Committee to support decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
• A qualified Chartered Accountant CA(L) – essential.
• A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent postgraduate qualification – advantageous.
• Proven experience in senior financial management, preferably within the financial services sector.
• Ensure filling of regulatory returns including financial statements
• Provide actuarial support
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax laws, and compliance
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in financial systems and ERP software
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a senior finance or similar leadership role with auditing experience.
