Description

Lead and drive strategic alignment within the Africa Portfolio

  • Responsible for providing business direction and strategic guidance for the Africa portfolio.
  • Working closely with the Africa Directors, In Country Leadership and SBV leadership, provide guidance and support in terms of future functionality, technology and innovation road map.

Lead the Business management, development and acumen for the Africa Portfolio

  • Drive the end to end sustainable profitability of the Africa Portfolio, ensuring synergies across the operational divisions.
  • Oversee activities in relation to analytics/research, business case development, business requirements development, product development, software delivery lifecycle, and vendor management.
  • Provide program management and overseeing all aspects of project delivery within the Africa Portfolio.
  • Lead the Africa Customer Value Proposition development and entrenchment to enable the SBV or chosen product/service offering road map which aims to strategically strengthen and position SBV as a partner of choice.
  • Present the commercial proposition to executives of Banks/Central Banks/potential business partners and drive closure of new business deal.
  • Lead and direct the applicable Country Management teams to negotiate the extension of business opportunities.
  • Lead and participate in all negotiations related to Africa expansion where applicable.
  • Compile investment proposals in alignment with SBV’s strategies.
  • Drive legal process, in conjunction with the SBV Legal team, ensuring adherence to all legal requirements applicable to the specific country including but not limited to:
  • Memorandum of agreement; and
  • Company registrations

Perform Financial Specialist services for Africa and the Group

  • Compile all financial information in compliance with all relevant legislation and statutory requirements for all entities under the Group.
  • Review the monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare the group consolidated results on a monthly basis ensuring that the subsidiary results are accurate, reliable and received timeously.
  • Support the Financial Analyst Department and Operational Country Heads/Africa Business Leader in analysing group results for inclusion in the quarterly board and monthly trade review reports.
  • Review the consolidated high-level budget output at a group and company level ensuring the budget is relevant, reasonable and consistent with the company and group strategic plans.
  • Compile the consolidated budgeted group and company balance sheet and cash flow statement.
  • Review the quarterly forecast results. Ensure all changes in forecast are reviewed and approved at the appropriate level; and that forecast results are reasonable.
  • Provide a supporting function on Audits for the Group and Africa.
  • Provide support to the yearly audit to ensure timeous provision of accurate and auditable accounts to external auditors.
  • Effective management of all TAX related matters including in-country tax of those countries SBV explore for future business.
  • Assist the financial analysts in implementation the company transfer pricing principles and documents.
  • Complete the monthly and annual tax computations for the local SBV entity as well as for the current Africa entities and make recommendations where necessary.
  • Review the tax computations of subsidiary companies for accuracy and reliability assessing the impact on the group taxex.
  • Assist the Financial Analyst Department in the preparation and review of business cases and or capital projects (investments, mergers, valuations etc.)

Drive the SBV culture

  • Lead the awareness of and entrenchment of SBV values within each country.
  • Drive the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mandates focused on the in-country laws and SBV culture.
  • Provide leadership to employees within the organization, creating a winning culture and high morale.
  • Initiate and lead a culture of performance driven output through shared purpose vision and values.

Sustainability of the organization through driving continuous improvement and efficiency programmes of work within the Africa portfolio

  • Build and or evaluate the various in Country Operating Models to identify:
    • Emerging Capabilities
    • Possible enhancements with associated cost benefit to SBV
    • Efficiency opportunities
    • Business growth opportunities and
    • Future growth and expansion opportunities.

Risk Management

  • Verify the implementation and availability of a BCM plan and disaster recovery processes for in-country operations to ensure availability, integrity, security and confidentiality.
  • Drive risk management and compliance with all necessary rules and regulations that govern the various in-country operations.
  • In conjunction with the in-country management team, proactively identify material risks to the sustainability of the in-country operations.

People Management

  • Create and nurture the SBV Culture of People First responsibly within each country, ensuring the specific nuances around Diversity, inclusion and Equity is considered.
  • Create a sustainable partnership with the applicable unions in order to pro-actively manage the labour climate within the various countries.
  • Creates a conductive environment which translates into productivity and high morale within SBV.
  • Adhere to legislative requirements and Group policies and procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Work Experience

  • 5 years Middle management experience in negotiations and management of multi country operations of which 2 years need to be Africa/cross border experience.
  • Proven track record of the ability to adjust current SA business models in line with the needs of the particular Africa Country.
  • Proven track record in preparation of business cases, preparing and managing a budgets and handling Tax matters.

Minimum Requirements: Education

  • Business Degree/ MBA – including Financial Management and preferably Legal.

Special Training or Requirements

  • Valid passport for travel into Africa.
  • Extensive knowledge of SBV finance systems is advantageous.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of excel and excel formulae.
