As an Executive Assistant you will have the opportunity to
works in a large and complex organization where substantial interests are at stake having a significant impact on Philips or a large proportion of it. You will have to make decisions without consulting others and you will be responsible for these decisions afterwards. You will be able to think ahead and take actions to enable decision-making processes and set priorities. You will have a performant, proactive and independent mindset and you will be leading by example while aligning activities and processes with the demands of the executive.


You will report to the Market Leader Africa. The role is based in Johannesburg.


You are responsible for:

  • Performs all standard supporting tasks for a department (dept. assistant) resp. executive (Execuctive assistant).
  • Agenda Management, mail screen incoming and outgoing mail, processing and priorities
  • Organizing (and hosting) meetings, events, (video) conferences, Web casts
  • Creating draft letters/ mails/ office documents/ meeting minutes/ PowerPoints
  • Managing office supplies
  • Archive management
  • On-/Off boarding (including organization of farewells)
  • Develop travel plans travel arrangements (including visa) and related expenses
  • Remain knowledgeable of corporate policies
  • Dealing with sensitive, complex and highly confidential information
  • Creating Purchase orders
  • Announcements : sending out local announcements
  • Train and coach (lower-level) departmental assistants
  • Interpret and communicate executive intent to other employees
  • Serves as a contact to employees or other stakeholders inside and outside the organization
  • Conducts various (analytical) special projects, especially involving budgets and preparations for Senior management meetings
  • Work closely with Communications Team on Global Announcements
  • Responsible for social events to activate team feeling.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Vocational degree and/or Higher Professional Education, thinking level is required

  • Minimum 5 years corporate experience
    (must)
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated skills in influencing people are critical
  • Has developed specialized skills and is multi-skilled through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience
  • Experienced in standard techniques to provide solutions to problems involving a limited number of variables
  • Demonstrated ability to improve existing processes
  • Takes initiative and identifies problems, generates alternatives and recommendations within defined processes
  • Working on the basis of Root Cause Analysis
  • Own interpretation regarding assignments, based on own calculations and leads implementation of changes

    in addition to local language
