What you can expect

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for all companies in Market Area Africa. Core responsibilities will include the following:

  • Perform monthly tax calculations & annual income tax returns & provisional tax returns in accordance with local legislation
  • Preparation of quarterly & year end tax reporting
  • Drafting & submission of CbCR & localized ICTP policies in accordance with local legislation
  • Ensure adequate internal controls over taxes are implemented to ensure income tax compliance
  • Posting of general journals & performing GL Recons on time. Ensuring clearing of old items, adequate documentation to support recons, & reasonability checks
  • Performing various bank recons & ensuring all items are cleared timeously. Liaise with finance departments on clearing
  • Perform finalization of the month end reporting in Condor / SAP
  • Assist controllers with queries, develop relationship with business partners
  • Ensuring that adequate internal controls are implemented over general ledger
  • Checking of creditor reconciliations
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in line with IFRS
  • Active involvement and liaison with internal and external auditors
  • Ad hoc projects

What we expect

  • The ideal candidate should possess B Com (Acc) with Honours qualification coupled with a minimum of 5 years in Finance, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Fluent communication in English
  • Knowledge of SAP is preferred
  • Knowledge of South African and Sub Saharan tax legislation (Income tax, VAT, WHT, WHV and ICTP) an advantage
  • Ability to work overtime and meet deadlines
