Introduction

An opportunity exists in Minopex Lesotho, Letšeng Site, for a Lesotho national to fill the position of General Engineering Superintendent (GES).

Description

The purpose of this position is to manage all engineering activities, maintenance, and projects according to the operational requirements, technical specifications, legislative and safety standards in order to achieve the required Plant availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that a competent engineering team is mobilised and deployed as appropriate
  • Set engineering targets according to production and engineering requirements as well as foreseeable maintenance and shut-down schedules
  • Review and manage the Asset Care and Maintenance Strategy in order to optimise Plant equipment performance
  • Integrate work schedules in conjunction with other Engineering / Process teams to ensure maximum availability and optimal utilisation of the Plants
  • Analyse equipment efficiencies on a continual basis, recommending and implementing improvements as appropriate
  • Assess areas of maintenance where outsourcing or partnerships would be appropriate, and make recommendations
  • Conduct Plant over-inspections in accordance with the SHEQ practices and Standards, as well as Legal and other requirements
  • Investigate breakdowns and diagnose problems (conduct Root Cause Analysis) to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure that all the required equipment, critical spares, and stock levels are maintained to ensure availability at all times
  • Oversee the preparation of short, medium and long-term maintenance plans to meet business objectives
  • Ensure compliance to the requirements of SHEQ Management System(s), Legal and other requirements
  • Develop and evaluate the availability of funds and control the usage thereof to ensure adherence to the approved budget
  • Prepare engineering and technical reports as appropriate
  • Initiate and manage plant shutdowns

Qualification Requirements:

  • Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Trade Test Certificate (from a reputable certification body) will be an added advantage
  • Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Engineering Supervisor / Foreman or in Maintenance Management in the Mining industry
  • Relevant planned maintenance system training (advantageous)
  • Finance for non-financial managers training (advantageous)
  • Supervisory management training
  • English language proficiency
  • Time management skills
  • Employee Relations training
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Report-writing skills
