Title: Gender Based Violence (GBV) Clinical Advisor

How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

Under the AIDSfree Civil Society Capacity Building Project, and with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), EGPAF seeks to build organizational and technical capacity of Civil Society Organizations to contribute towards addressing the HIV and AIDS epidemic.

Reporting to the Senior Key and Priority Population Advisor, the GBV Clinical Advisor will act as the key activity manager and provide overall coordination for GBV activities. S/He will liaise with other Care and Treatment departments to ensure GBV activities are fully integrated into routine care at facility level in EGPAF supported districts. The GBV Clinical Advisor will assist with the development/revision of guidelines, tools and SOPs for GBV and monitor progress towards implementation of GBV activities and achievement of set targets as set in the workplan.  S/he will represent EGPAF at GBV related meetings with relevant MOH departments and other stakeholders and ensure that EGPAF’s mandate is met.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect as a Title?

1.     Support to the MOH National GBV Department

·        Liaises with Ministry of Health and other institutions involved in post GBV care services

·        Participates in the formulation, review and recommendation of national guidelines/protocols and policies on GBV.

·        Participates in development of guidelines and protocols for delivery GBV services and recommends standards to be used in the provision post violence clinical care to TWG (s) in keeping with international standards.

2.     Program Design and Implementation

·        Develop, implement, and evaluate gender-based violence prevention and response programs in line with EGPAF’s mission and objectives.

·        Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective program implementation.

·        Provide technical expertise on gender-based violence issues, ensuring that EGPAF’s programs align with best practices, international standards, and legal frameworks.

·        Provides GBV technical support and guidance to district-based clinicians and community-based groups such as Civil Society Organisations

·        Participates in organizing regular technical updates/review meetings for GBV to the EGPAF technical staff

·        Participates in the EGPAF planning and budgeting activities, especially in regard to GBV

·        Recommends performance indicators for monitoring and evaluating GBV service provision

·        Prepares SOPs to be used by the medical personnel in planning and institutionalizing GBV clinical services.

3.     Training and Capacity Building

·        Design and deliver training programs on gender-based violence awareness, prevention, and response for various target groups, including healthcare providers, community leaders, districts and government officials.

·        Provide on-the-job training and updating of skills of EGPAF District based staff on post GBV clinical care.

·        Trains mentors and supports healthcare workers on GBV activities

·        Strengthen the capacity of EGPAF staff and partners to address gender-based violence effectively.

4.     Advocacy and Communication

·        Engage in advocacy efforts to promote gender equality and raise awareness about gender-based violence at local, national, and international levels.

·        Develop and implement communication strategies to amplify the impact of EGPAF’s initiatives.

5.     Monitoring and Evaluation

·        Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of GBV programs.

·        Regularly review program data and provide recommendations for program improvement.

·        Monitors and evaluates the delivery of integrated GBV services, and recommends necessary follow-up actions.

6.     Collaboration and Networking

·        Keeps Technical Director informed of any bottlenecks affecting smooth implementation of activities set in the work plan

·        Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other partners to strengthen the coordination and implementation of GBV programs.

·        Network with key stakeholders in the field to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices.

7.     Reporting

·        Drafts GBV related reports for submission on a monthly, quarterly and annually

·        Submission of annual narratives for submission to the donor

·        Submission of annual workplans and budget inputs during annual reapplications

Working station

The position is based in Maseru Head Office. Travel within Lesotho is be necessary.

To be successful, you will have:

·        Minimum Degree in a relevant field (Social Work, Public Health, Gender Studies, etc.).

·        Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage

·        Minimum of 4 years of experience in gender-based violence prevention and response.

Bonus points if you have:

·        Experience in 3 years field work in leading role of supportive supervision and mentorship to staff

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·        Strong understanding of international and national legal frameworks related to gender-based violence.

·        Proven experience in program management, training, and advocacy.

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·        Familiarity with the global health context, especially in the context of pediatric AIDS.
