Further Career Development of Mid-Career Professionals in the Fields of Peacebuilding and Development

Commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, the Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center (HPC) conducts the ‟Mid-Career Course of the Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development (Global Peacebuilders Program)” JFY 2023.

The Mid-Career Course is designed for those who have about 10 years of work experience in fields related to peacebuilding and/or development and aspire to further advance their professional careers, in particular at the United Nations or other international organizations. The Course aims to develop the comprehensive adaptability required to overcome challenges such as changes in positions within organizations and increasingly complex responsibilities.

The Course focuses on strengthening competencies such as Communication, Negotiation, Leadership and Management, through interactive discussions and role-play exercises. It offers each participant the opportunity to further improve their performance based on feedback from facilitators and to build their networks through group interaction.

Qualifications

Selected participants should have:

(1) About ten years of work experience in fields related to peacebuilding and/or development (e.g., administration, aviation, civil affairs, communications, economics, engineering, finance, human resources, humanitarian aid, IT, law, political affairs, procurement, public health, security, supply chain management and environment).

(2) Determination to further one’s career in peacebuilding and development, in particular at the UN and other international organizations.

(3) Fluency in spoken and written English.

(4) Full attendance at the training.

20 Participants (Japanese and other nationals)

Participation Fees

Course participation fees will not be charged for the participants, but participants are to cover their own travel.
