Main Purpose:
Provide visionary leadership of the gold Fundraising Management (FM) Function across current and new gold countries of operation, in support of gold-youth’s vision to see the system of youth education and upbringing in Africa changed.
Fulfil the role of “hub team” custodian of the gold-youth resource mobilisation strategy and plan, accountable for donor pipeline and donor management systems, including onboarding and relationship management of sustainability partners.
Hold Hub level stewardship of the strategic objective to establish and maintain a diverse, stable, and growing income stream, founded on strategic partnerships.
Observe gold-youth’s core documents (Vision, Mission, System Change Strategy, Leadership DNA, Matrix Functional Framework) and demonstrate a shared ethos that is an example to others.
Reporting to: Head of Business Development but working closely with Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Leadership and functional management:
Provide inputs to the Head of Business Development, CEO, and executive leadership team in the development of the fundraising strategy and related annual plans.
Ensure the FM Function is efficiently and effectively managed.
Lead the operational implementation and capacity building required for the FM plan to become integrated within the ongoing country and field plans where the gold Model is being implemented or planned for future implementation.
Provide leadership to the FM team (Fundraising Specialist and Donor Management & Governance Coordinator) in the implementation of the FM strategy and plan.
Actively support the CEO, Chief Programme Operations Officer (CPOO) and National Managers to engage and communicate effectively with potential and current donors within the African youth development ecosystem.
Provide exemplary insights and support to Head of Business Development, CEO, Board and National Management Team in relation to fundraising and donor engagement issues and activities.
Participate and contribute to quarterly Board meetings as required.
Participate and contribute to quarterly operations management and review meetings as well as annual review and team workshops and meetings.
Development and maintenance of FM policies, methods, content, and tools
Determine and specify required FM policies, method guides, templates, and tools for application in all gold countries of operation.
In collaboration with Head of Content and Communications and CPOO, ensure National Managers have current and relevant resources, processes, and systems for timely use to contribute towards FM activities and outcomes in the field.
Oversee FM quality assurance (including but not limited to managing reporting tools, collating, and analysing reports, and updating of databases).
Development of fundraising products, campaigns & materials
Provide inputs and support the Executive leadership and management teams in the development of products, giving campaigns and platforms for fundraising, such as ‘Global Giving’, marathons, cause related events etc.
Research & identification of prospects for new donor acquisition
Identify prospective donors, develop, and manage a detailed prospect management tracker and maintain an active pipeline of prospective donors
Research prospects to assess their ‘interest’ and alignment with gold-youth mission & programme outcomes
Research and conduct due diligence on potential donors to ensure compliance to gold-youth ethical guidelines and policies, prior to formal engagement with them.
Update all interactions with prospects on the prospect management tracker regularly, review actions with Head of Business Development and ensure effective follow ups and Report to the FM team and CEO on progress and opportunities.
Pitch presentations & follow up
Set up and conduct face to face and virtual meetings with potential corporate organizations & foundations, independently and with the support of the Head of Business Development, the CEO, and the senior management teams).
Develop key pitch presentations to introduce the work of gold-youth, explain the organisation’s focus and programme areas and outcomes and effectively showcase the work currently being done.
Explore and implement various avenues, ideas, and opportunities of mutual areas of interest with potential donors and sustainability partners.
Effective follow up and build relationships with prospects to drive discussions forward into the decision to fund and support gold-youth.
Development of grant proposals
Lead the development of grant applications, tailored proposals, and budgets in coordination with programme teams and submit as per proposal deadlines.
Develop a grant-funding calendar and adhere to strict timelines.
Oversee submission of various due diligence documentation and certifications to support proposals and grant applications, as requested by prospective donors.
Provide relevant inputs for the creation of grant agreements/contracts with the donors being onboarded.
Donor relationship management
Provide oversight to the Donor Management & Governance Coordinator to:
Provide timely resolution to queries raised by donors in collaboration with Programme teams.
Ensure timely reporting to donors in relevant formats, in collaboration with CEO, Programme Managers and Content and Communications Team.
Oversee donor administration and communications to ensure timely, accurate and effective donor servicing in terms of the standard processes such as, timely dispatch of donor receipts, tax certificates, sharing the annual impact reports, newsletters etc – in collaboration with content and communications
Coordinate programme visits for prospective donors.
Support initiatives for donor retention such as campaigns and events to promote long-term funding support.
External coordination of Employee engagement activities as required by donors, in partnership with internal stakeholders.
Update the donor tracker with all interactions & support the implementation of the gold-youth donor relationship strategy.

Visibility support for gold-youth at key face to face or virtual events
Leverage the reputation of gold-youth as an expert in youth development and job creation to secure invitations to institutional donor or corporate forums and events, CSR seminars and conferences, to network with prospective donors and improve the visibility of both the organization and the gold Model.
Qualifications:
Graduate/postgraduate in Social Work, Social Sciences or Business (Sales & Marketing) from a recognised University.

Experience desired:
Minimum of 7 year’s work experience in community development in Africa or new business development environment of which 2 -4 years should be in a management capacity.
Established understanding and demonstrable experience of the fundraising process and track record of success in developing relationships with new prospects and converting them into supporters and achieving fundraising targets.
Understanding of Large Grants Fundraising context in Africa/ abroad and prospect donor target markets
Experience in managing relationships across multiple countries in Africa (preference)
Strong proven leadership to deliver high quality outcomes in a dynamic environment
An understanding of youth and/or community development ecosystem issues with a focus on youth social behaviour, education, and job creation.
Behavioural skills and competencies:
Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills in English.
A good track record in writing and winning fundraising proposals and applications.
Expertise in creating and delivering compelling and persuasive presentations.
Strong time management skills and adherence to deadlines.
Highly disciplined and able to work without supervision.
Proficiency in MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to multitask and handle a variety of projects at once.
Ability to take initiative and drive projects through to completion.
Excellent networking and interpersonal skills that facilitate strong relationships with a wide range of people.
Excellent data management and report writing skills
Strong budget development and management skills
Commitment to gold-youth vision, mission, and goals.
Geography and Nationality:
Willing to be based in Cape Town or Johannesburg (South Africa) or in Kigali (Rwanda).
African candidate (representative of one of gold-youth’s current countries of operation preferred: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, South Africa, and Botswana).
