Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa (BGCSA) is a youth development organisation that runs facility based after -school programmes for school aged children. BGCSA have two sites in Protea Glen and Pimville, and a third site in development in Bertrams. Fresh or recent graduate with a major in communications or marketing required to lead digital marketing and earned media campaigns to grow income from individual donors and the brand. This growing organziation has big ambition to grow this function and we need someone that has broad skills as well as a passion to improving kids lives.

Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa is seeking to appoint a Fundraising & Marketing Manager, based in Johannesburg, to oversee our marketing and fundraising activities from private and public sector funders.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager will be responsible for increasing the number of donors and partners BGCSA has relationships with and will be tasked to grow our income year on year in accordance with realistic but ambitious targets. This role will be responsible for all fundraising activities targeting corporates, individuals trusts and foundations and institutions in both South Africa and abroad and will have annual income targets and KPI’s. The successful candidate should have strong analytical and research skills and an understand of fundraising, marketing and Corporate Social Investment in the South African context and be able to communicate BGCSA’s social impact in an engaging manner. The successful candidate will oversee the development of funding cultivation and retention systems that capture information from donors as well as program activities.

Responsibilities:
Fundraising:
Grant research to develop prospect lists for cultivation into donors
Draft proposals funders
Prioritize proposals and submit monthly applications for funding
Manage the Grant calendar to ensure deadlines and submission targets are met
Oversea BGCSA’s regular giving campaigns
Coordinate meetings with potential funders to develop relationships that lead to funding and partnership opportunities
Implement communications activities that build awareness of BGCSA in the CSI, institutional donor and South African government spaces
Working with the board to leverage existing networks
Liaise with the BGC global network to facilitate introductions to existing partnerships outside of South Africa
Drive Board involvement in fundraising via the CEO
Plan and lead Club visits with board members, existing and potential donors and influencers
Plan and execute 2 special events annually to raise funds for BGCSA
Marketing:
Manage all BGCSA social media accounts
Ensure posting is done in line with media calendar and accounts fans and follower counts continuing to grow
Undertake outreach with influencers and allies to amplify our posts and social media campaigns
Draft all external communications for target audiences; e-newsletters, social media posts, donor communications and annual reports
Develop communications materials that unlock our impact through messaging that is easily digested by lay people that follow and support us

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, an advanced degree is preferred
A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in non-profit fundraising that touches on individual giving and corporate partnerships with a well-known NGO brand
A track record of working with campaigns or partnerships raising >ZAR 5,000,000 annually
Understanding of basic individual giving tools and platforms such as CRM’s, Bulk Email and debit order systems
Experience in admin or management of social media accounts with public facing audiences
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations
Highly organised, self-reliant, good problem-solving, results-oriented, multi-tasker with
superior management skills and excellent judgment
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong presentation skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners, Club staff, subordinates, Board Members, community groups, and other related stakeholders
