The Friends of Valkenberg Trust is an NPO working in conjunction with hospital staff at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital to promote the recovery of people with serious mental illnesses.
The Friends of Valkenberg Trust in Observatory is seeking to employ a part-time Volunteer Coordinator, based in Cape Town.
Employment type: Part-time (16 morning hours/week).
Start date: 1 November 2019.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Director, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment and management of the 60 weekly volunteers who run recovery focussed groups with service users.
- Together with the team, the Coordinator is responsible for ensuring impact as well as monitoring and evaluation.
Requirements:
- The applicant should be a well organised, people-oriented team player with strong communication, project management and IT skills.
- The applicant should be able to relate to a diverse group of stakeholders, and have an interest in /understanding of mental illness.
