The Friends of Valkenberg Trust is an NPO working in conjunction with hospital staff at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital to promote the recovery of people with serious mental illnesses.
The Trust seeks to appoint an part-time Director, to be based in Cape Town.
Employment type: Part-time (15 hours/ week starting)
Start date: 15 January 2020.
Reports to: Board of Trustees
The purpose of the position is to manage a small, stable, skilled and cohesive team who coordinate a range of recovery focussed services with the support of 60 volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- provide creative and collaborative leadership,
- responsible for fundraising, implementing and expanding programs,
- liaising with Hospital management and other stakeholders.
- Together with the Board, the Director is responsible for the financial management and
- long term sustainability of the organisation.
Requirements:
- experience in the field of mental health / allied field,
- experience in leadership, NPO’s and fundraising.
- Applicants should show an understanding of monitoring and evaluation,
- good governance and financial management.
- demonstrate a high level of integrity and show excellent communication skills.
