WASCO invites applications from suitably qualified Internal Candidates for the following position:
Job Title: FOREMAN WATER DISTRIBUTION
Reports to: SUPERVISOR WATER DISTRIBUTION
Purpose of the Role:
To lead maintenance crews in maintaining a constant supply of potable water at adequate pressures with minimum interruption and losses through implementation of developed plans.
Key Tasks:
Infrastructure Maintenance
- Lead crews to maintain and repair distribution network and all its components; pipes, valves and chambers
- Identify and assess valves and pipes for soundness and continuation of service
- Investigate leaks and determine cause in order to plan lasting remedial action
- Carry out, under supervision, minor reticulation extensions, diversions and reconnections per need
Crew Leadership
- Lead crew to carry out specific jobs on site
- Assign each crew member for specific tasks
- Assign materials for each crew member to perform specific tasks
- Allocate tools and equipment for each crew member to perform specific tasks
- Drive crew vehicle in order to move from site to site
- Requisitioning materials for repair of network faults
Safety, Health and Environment
- Enforce safety and good health practices at all Distribution work sites
- Ensure good health practices at all sites under his control
- Ensure reinstatement of environment after any work carried out by the crew that changes or affects the environment
- Make temporary reinstatements after completion of works that affect road and its surrounds
Reporting
- Fill in issued job cards after completion of every job carefully filling in required data, of materials, crew compliment, tools and equipment also observing start and completion times of each task
- Report need for closure of supply to supervisor whenever necessary
- Record and submit overtime records of the crew
- Report to the Distribution Supervisor on all site activities including areas of concern and potential harm
- Report on daily material usage on site

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Plumbing/Bricklaying Certificate
- Trade Test and 5 years’ experience in Pipe laying
- A valid Code C1 Driver’s License
