Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA) is South Africa’s social and environmental enterprise improving lives and landscapes towards healthy people on a healthier planet, since 1990. Over 4.2 million trees, 1000’s of permaculture food gardens, bamboo projects and organic farms have been planted for poor communities.

FTFA seeks to employ a Campaign Coordinator to be based in Johannesburg.

Reports to: African Climate Reality Project Branch Manager

Duration: One year contract

Start date: As soon as possible

The purpose of the position is to effectively engage and support Climate Leaders, volunteers and organisations to take climate action. Furthermore, as part of a small team, the coordinator will conduct some administrative work, prepare fundraising proposals and represent African Climate Reality Project at various meetings and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder engagement and support
  • Planning and implementation of campaign activities
  • Prepare fundraising proposals and monitoring
  • Database management
  • Administration

Requirements:

  • Communication skills; both verbal and written. Fluency in English and French, do not apply unless you speak French. Other African languages advantageous (written test may be required upon application)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage people, give direction and receive feedback
  • Time and task management, including problem solving
  • Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive, including database management
  • Detail oriented and focused; ability to operate efficiently; and maintain strong degree of accuracy
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, deadline-oriented, robust, ability to work under pressure
  • Professional and ethical standards
