Position Title: Financial and Compliance Administrator
Reports To: Financial Manager (MIM SA), Managing Director (Lesotho)
Location: Maseru
Job Description | Key Purpose
To provide end-to-end financial, bookkeeping, and compliance administration support to the MIM Les and limited administrative support to its investee companies.
The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory and governance compliance, and assisting in the preparation of management and statutory reports to support the Financial Manager in strategic decision-making.
From time to time the candidate will be expected to support the FM with financial activities for MIM SA.
Responsibilities
A. Bookkeeping and Financial Administration
- Process and record all financial transactions.
- Maintain general ledgers, trial balances, and monthly reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, receipts, and supplier payments.
- Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
- Support the preparation of audit files and liaise with auditors when required.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Monitor cash flow movements and assist in preparing financial performance reports.
B. Compliance and Governance Administration
- Assist in ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements (RSL, CBL, labour, Trade and other filings).
- Manage annual regulatory licence renewals and filings.
- Engage and resolve queries with regulators (such as RSL, CBL, Labour, Trade and other relevant bodies).
- Prepare and submit or work with service providers on VAT, PAYE, IT, and other relevant returns timeously.
- Liaise with external compliance officer.
- Maintain compliance calendars and update the compliance register for all MIM LS.
- Support the preparation of governance documentation – resolutions, minutes, and statutory registers.
- Assist in implementing internal control procedures and compliance policies.
- Liaise with auditors, regulators, and legal advisors where required.
C. Office and Administrative Support
- Maintain organised filing systems for financial and compliance documentation (both digital and physical).
- Support procurement and supplier management.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and financial summaries for management.
- Assist in inter-company communication and coordination of financial tasks.
- Support operational readiness and contribute to proposals for new fund/product launches.
- Identify areas for improvement of existing processes, partnering with business areas on solutions and technology enhancements.
D. Cross-Functional Support
- Provide limited administrative support to investment team and portfolio companies.
- To assist in any other responsibilities that the Managing Director or Financial Manager may assign to the employee.
Essential Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in bookkeeping, financial administration, or compliance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks).
- Good knowledge of statutory reporting and tax compliance.
Education / Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Financial Management, or related field.
Preferred: Studying towards or completion of CA LS qualification would be advantageous.
