Position: Financial Accountant

Job Overview
The officer has responsibility for maintenance of basic accounting and financial records that will facilitate provision of accurate and timely financial data to support Naledi Funeral Planner’s business strategy and financial planning, monitoring, management and reporting

Responsibilities and Duties
Prepares monthly statements by collecting data; analysing and investigating variances; summarizing data, information, and trends.
Prepare various periodic and ad hoc financial reports and perform variance analysis to assist the company management with decision-making. Assist with budget maintenance for proper management of financial resources.
Comply with company and tax filing requirements by studying regulations; adhering to requirements; advising management on required actions; calculating quarterly estimated tax payments; assembling data for quarterly and annual tax filings.
Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analysing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
Provides financial advice by studying operational issues; applying financial principles and practices; developing recommendations.
Updates job knowledge by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes finance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
Management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
Report to management regarding the finances of Naledi
Record financial transactions following appropriate authorizations. Review and analyze various accounts to detect irregularities. Advise on corrective actions and prepare correcting entries and adjustments, as necessary.
Assess, evaluate and monitor sub-recipient financial management processes in

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance
General Accountant qualification of the Lesotho Institute of Accountants or equivalent.
Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software
In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures
Solid knowledge of accounting regulations
Excellent maths skills with an attention to detail
Time-management abilities
Confidentiality
