Position: Finance Officer – THUSO Project (Marang Fund)
Location: Maseru, Lesotho
Contract Type: Full-time, 12 months (with possible extension)

About the Project
The THUSO Project, supported by the Marang Fund, aims to promote the dignity, safety, and inclusion of LGBTQI+ persons in Lesotho. The project addresses structural discrimination in financial services, public infrastructure, correctional facilities, and gender-based violence (GBV) response systems through institutional engagement, policy advocacy, and capacity building.
Role Overview
The Finance Officer will play a key role in the financial management and day-to-day financial coordination of the THUSO Project. The position requires a highly organised and detail‑oriented individual capable of managing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
The role supports project implementation by ensuring compliance with donor requirements, organisational policies, and financial procedures, while maintaining proper financial records and documentation. The role demands strong attention to detail, accountability, and a demonstrated commitment to human rights and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project budgets, ensuring funds are used according to approved plans and donor requirements
- Monitor income and expenditure and track project spending against budget
- Maintain accurate financial records, including invoices, receipts, and ledgers
- Prepare timely financial reports for management and donors
- Support programme teams with budget planning and financial guidance
- Process payments to staff, suppliers, and partners in a timely and accurate manner
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in financial management or accounting
- Experience working in NGOs or donor-funded projects is highly recommended
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organisational, facilitation, and communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
