CBA is a non-governmental organisation whose mandate is to assist the Lesotho Government on five thematic areas HIV and AIDS, Livelihoods, Economic Empowerment, Food Security and Humanitarian Relief.

With support from the Global Fund (GF) CBA is implementing TB/HIV , SRH Interventions in the following 8 districts Mafeteng, Mohale’sHoek, Quthing, Qachasnek, Thaba Tseka, Mokhotlong, Butha-Buthe and Berea with the focus on Key populations ( Female Sex workers, MSM and IDUs) . 

Applications are invited from the suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions based at Maseru:

Finance Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting responsibilities at Care for Basotho
  • Ensure proper paper trail of accounting documents, review documents for completeness, accuracy and investigate variances prior to processing payments.
  • Prepare cheques and payment voucher once payments have been approved.
  • Process advances to staff and follow up on outstanding balances and ensure timely retirements are made.
  • Maintain petty cash account and prepare monthly cash reports.
  • Assist in the audit of the annual financial statements and ensure implementation of audit recommendations
  • Suggest improvements on financial system, and or procedures to finance Manager as required.
  • Develop or implement changes to systems or procedures as requested.
  • Maintain orderly and comprehensive filling system (both in paper and computerized system)
  • Ensure the banking is carried out on time and that records are in good order
  • Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely financial reporting;
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to donor regulations and procedures, including maintenance of internal control and accountability of CBA resources;
  • Assist with the capturing of accounting transactions in Pastel.
  • Undertake joint investigation into financial matters and potential interventions
  • Perform Monthly reconciliations and prepare relevant reports for submission to the finance manager for review.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and manage the organization’s inventory.
  • Ensure effective budget management through accurate allocation of funding to the respective projects and participate in the preparations of budgets.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements

  • Qualified General Accountant / Degree in Accounting and Finance 
  • Two(2) years relevant experience required in finance and Admin functions in the field at an appropriate level, with sound understanding of working with NGOs ;
  • Experience with US funded projects is an added advantage ;
  • Experience interacting with remote project offices and field based staff is required;
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft word, Advanced excel techniques, Assess and Power point ;
  • Knowledge of PASTEL accounting system is key;
  • Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
  • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented
  • Ability to work as part of diverse and multi-cultural team.
  • Fluent English and Sesotho
