The mission of the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) is to prepare the nations of the world for the coming of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth.CBN South Africa has been established in Cape Town to provide opportunities, support, resources, training and sustainability for the multiplication of CBN ministry in the Southern African region.

They are looking for a Finance Manager to join their growing team in Cape Town.

This role requires someone special who is skilful in and excited about finance and the oversight of donor funding. They will be organised and strategic. They will supervise, track and evaluate all financial activities (along with some HR oversight) while working closely with our management team and board members to provide strategic support. They will manage the financial and human resource reporting for all the diverse aspects of our organisation, as well as shape processes to improve reporting and operating efficiencies.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Qualified CA (CIMA, ACCA or finance degree with strong experience will also be considered)
At least 3 years’ experience as a Finance manager or 5 years similarly appropriate experience
Known for personal integrity and uncompromising ethics
Analytical with a keen eye for detail and process-oriented
Enjoys creating and maintaining order and structure
Driven: the desire to work hard to achieve excellence in every area of responsibility
Knowledge of GAAP or IFRS
Conversant with POPIA and PAIA
Experience using Quickbooks and/or other key accounting software
Ability to evaluate, organise, track and report information
Ability to offer confidential, objective advice to colleagues and the Director and can handle sensitive information discretely.
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage overlapping deadlines
Communicates with excellence, written and verbal.
Desire and ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
Takes initiative and self-motivates
Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team
Ability to foresee risks and allow for contingencies
Desire to see the people of Southern Africa come to a greater understanding of God’s grace, love and call on their lives
Some HR management experience (preferred)

FINANCE MANAGEMENT:

Prepare easily usable and useful financial reports to help provide operational and financial oversight for the company
Develop and maintain efficient, transparent administrative and financial systems, including ensuring accurate record-keeping and regular information backup
Manage finances and cash flow, including reconciliations, reviews and implementing controls, and the payments and collections process
Compile and manage service provider contracts, relationships and payments.
Together with the Partnership & Sustainability Manager, implement strategies for new partner acquisition and revenue generation
Ensure compliance with national and international procedures, policies, and regulatory codes
Work with the various team members here and in other countries to provide interpretation of financial data towards strategic decision making
Help to create further structure and processes to enable continued multiplication of our impact in the region based on robust financial and management principles
Remain knowledgable and relevant to current financial practices and financial systems/innovations – and strive to implement this knowledge in your performance
Function as an ex officio member of the CBN board, scheduling AGMs, preparing and presenting financial reports, setting up agendas, taking minutes, etc.
Take on various other assignments as specified by the Regional Director

SPECIFIC FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
Ensuring financial compliance, safety and accuracy amongst staff and service providers
Creating and managing budgets
Accounts payable and receivable
Compliance with all tax and other finance related government regulations
Recording of all transactions
Asset, liability, and capital entry
Bank reconciliations
Monthly closing
CIPC annual returns, income tax for exempt organization and other tax filings
Financial analysis and reporting
Cash flow management and projections
Fund accounting
Maintain financial controls
Fixed asset inventory
Working to prepare annual audited financial statements, alongside external auditors
Financial forecasting
Management of Insurance
Preparation of yearly contracts and management of quarterly invoices for Field Reps in the Southern Africa Region

HR OVERSIGHT (HR experience preferred but not essential)

Implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy and compliant with SA labour laws and regulations BCEA, Labor Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, COIDA etc
Maintain efficient, transparent administrative and HR systems
Draft and finalize employment contracts
Facilitate healthy working relationships by addressing conflicts and grievances in an empathetic and objective manner
Take on various HR-related assignments as specified by the Regional Director, including assistance with recruitment, induction and performance management

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Regional Director of CBN SA as well as the Finance Manager of CBN International, USA.
