mothers2mothers (m2m) is an Africa-based NGO that unlocks the potential of women to eliminate paediatric AIDS and create healthy families across ten sub-Saharan African countries. m2m trains, employs, and helps empower women living with HIV  to work as community healthcare workers in understaffed health centres and underserved communities. Finance Manager – Corporate Financial Analysis and Systems – Cape Town

The Finance Manager of the Corporate Financial Management and Systems Unit manages (Finance Manager – CFMS), supports and advises the organisation by providing expert financial management and corporate governance guidance in support of the organisations global operations. The Finance Manager – CFMS functions as a key analyst and advisor within the Finance Department and the organisation. The incumbent will work closely with the Finance Managers of the various Finance units to ensure the application of sound accounting principles/practices and to provide adequate financial reporting on a corporate level to the Finance Director for presentation to the applicable stakeholders including the Senior Management Team and the various Boards of the organisation as well as certain organizational external financial reports. The Finance Manager – CFMS will monitor and analyse the financial targets of each entity, department and unit of the organization in support of the overall group financial goals. This position will also be responsible for supporting the Finance Director with corporate governance and ensuring the entities meet all relevant statutory compliance regulations on an annual basis.

Key Performance Areas:

1.    Preparation and analysis of reports
the finance department in conceptualising and designing appropriate reports using JET Reports or any other reporting tools
Prepare and analyse monthly/quarterly/annual management reports accurately and in a timely manner for all m2m entities (including preparing variance analysis for budgeting and forecasting purposes)
Support the Head of Departments and Unit Managers in preparing and analysing the monthly Forward Looking Pipeline reports
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting financial information on an organizational level for all entities/affiliates including income statement, balance sheet, and variance to budget and others as required.
2.    Coordinate the annual budgeting process across all the m2m entities
Support the compilation of annual and periodic budget information on an entity level and on the consolidation level
Support the Finance Director and other Finance Managers to design and manage the annual budgeting process
Coordinate and manage the consolidation of all the unit budgets per entity and prepare the consolidated information for review by the Finance Director for approval by the CEO and various Boards of the m2m group.
3.    Support the Finance Director and International Operations Unit with financial management and corporate governance and compliance
Assist in meeting Tax Compliance including, Annual Corporate Tax Filings for all entities and affiliates
Coordinate with the International Operations Unit to ensure that Country filings are up to date
Prepare reports for the various Boards related to corporate governance and compliance
Provide ad hoc financial management support to m2mI and m2mUK including financial reviews and analysis
4.    Support the Finance Director in managing and monitoring the Indirect Cost pools
Prepare the annual indirect and fringe rates proposals for submission to USAID
Track the indirect and fringe rates for the organization
Prepare monthly Indirect Cost pipeline reports
Research optimal registration statuses for new operational countries
5.    Manage financial and administrative systems (Navision Serenic, Replicon, etc)
Managing the SLA with the accounting and time keeping systems service providers
Supervise the super user function of the system
When required, re-engineer internal business processes to ensure a sound internal control environment and provide a quality control environment to ensure consistent application of internal control measures
In collaboration with the Finance Managers of the various finance units continually assess work processes across all functional and organisation units that influence internal controls and system utilisation
Liaise with internal stakeholders to established revised or new work processes and ensure appropriate documentation is kept of work processes
Provide support and training to staff within the unit and across all business operations in work process
Establish quality control measures and tools to ensure that all work processes are properly implemented
Liaise with other financial units to establish tools to support operational work processes
Update relevant policy and procedures to reflect updated business processes.
6.    Provide specialised financial technical assistance to the Finance Director
In collaboration with the Finance and Business Intelligence Analyst, research and advise on optimal cost structures to ensure maximum cost recovery and competitive pricing of interventions and products
Provide technical assistance where required for special projects and initiatives
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or accounting
CIMA/CA preferred or a Post graduate degree/diploma an advantage
10 years’ experience in a financial role of which at least 5 years must’ve been in a managerial role
Knowledge of institutional donor requirements; EC, DfID, UN partner agreements, SIDA, USAID, CDC, etc preferred
Sound business and technical acumen
Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure
Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally
Ability to manage/administer a finance unit, ability to rationalize work, delegate tasks, apply advanced systems to simplify work and negotiate systems improvements, propose solutions to make best use of staff and financial resources
Proven superior knowledge and experience of computerized financial and business information systems,
Advanced Excel skill
Previous experience in a multi-national not-for-profit organization at head office level preferred
Experience in managing a team of professionals
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work on own and within various teams;
Ability to manage competing tasks; ability to prioritize and produce high level output consistently
Ability to implement new initiatives and processes and do so in a collaborative manner
