Description:

The Finance Director for South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa is a strategic business partner and a key member of the local country leadership team. This strong finance professional will play a critical role in providing strategic and operational leadership to the country organization, supporting a business of around USD150M-$200M. He/she will lead and develop a small team of Finance professionals, being responsible for Accounting, Financial Planning&Analysis and Internal Controls.

Our Finance team brings together our financial perspectives into our overall strategic and tactical decision making. We use state-of-the-art techniques for financial analysis, planning, accounting, reporting and performance evaluation. This allows the organization to continue advancing medical innovation and improve lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop finance team
  • Ensure financial statements fully comply with US-GAAP and local GAAP
  • Ensure statutory tax compliance
  • Support the implementation of Finance projects and ensure it is delivering timely and compliant services to the local organization
  • Ensure that new/existing Policies & Procedures, Internal Controls are adapted to local and business requirements and in line with company standards
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and process alignment with Shared Business Service teams
  • Continuously challenge the status quo and provide innovative solutions for efficiencies to streamline processes
  • Monitor actual performance vs plan and recommend timely corrective actions
  • Provide recommendations to improve Human Health efficiency measures through optimization of resource allocation and P&L management
  • Active involvement in pricing and reimbursement strategies
  • Strategic input and active involvement in Business development deals
  • Ensure requests, reports and presentations are submitted timely with high quality comments
  • Provide strategic and operational business support
  • Participate and lead cross-functional projects, also outside of core finance responsibility
  • Have oversight on customer services and D&L topics (Route-to-customer, eIIMS, S&OP, etc.)
  • Local oversight related to facilities management and car fleet management.
  • Actively participate in local leadership team
  • Financial stewardship


Qualifications:

  • Relevant university degree and other financial qualifications
  • Qualified Chartered Account CA (SA)
  • Finance professional experience of more than 10 years
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, BPC and Office applications

  • Strong compliance mind-set and experience
  • Ability to clearly communicate both orally and written
  • Business acumen (e.g. knowledgeable in policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the business)
  • Capacity to negotiate at all levels of the company and particularly Senior Management
  • Strong business understanding and strategic thinking / seeing the bigger picture
  • Good knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proactive and self-driven
  • Capacity to solve complex situations
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and collaborate with business partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills: easy to get along with, optimist and passionate
  • Strong people management skills
