Conservation South Africa currently has a vacancy for a Finance Co-ordinator to be based at our K2C Office reporting to the Junior Finance Manager based in Cape Town. This is a 12-month contract position with renewal dependent on funding availability and performance.

To support the Junior Finance Manager working out of the CSA offices, the incumbent will be required to carry out the following tasks:
The Finance Co-ordinator will be required to become familiar with the financial systems and controls utilized by CSA.
Process and match payments in our finance software – Unit 4 Business World, to ensure month end deadlines are met for the K2C offices.
Process Journals relating to travel related activities, staff claims and advances, payroll, bank account transactions, reconciliations, reallocations, etc.
The Finance Co-ordinator will be required to scrutinize all paperwork relating to financial transactions for the K2C landscape.
A key function in this role provides feedback and guidance to the Junior Finance Manager and the Finance Director on any compliance issues arising.
Ensure that all approved EFT’s are loaded onto CATS banking for payment and processing.
Ensure proper documentation exists and complies with CSA procurement requirements before disbursements are made.
Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts for the K2C offices and submit to Finance Director for approval and the Cape Town office for processing.
Review general ledger transactions per landscape to ensure accurate capturing of financial information and report any discrepancies.
Assist with monthly reconciliations of various Balance Sheet items.
Maintain finance files to ensure that they are audit ready.
Pay office expenses in a timely manner and ensure that no expenditure goes ahead without prior knowledge and approval of office manager and that cost center approval levels are adhered to.
Assist in monitoring & updating of information including asset registers, accounting questionnaires and Human Resources questionnaires.
Maintain the K2C Fixed Asset Register – update and submit monthly to the relevant staff and office.
Attend weekly finance meetings.
Accurate submission of monthly timesheet.
Assist with internal and external audit queries.
Be prepared to take on additional activities as they arise, due to the growing nature of projects.
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION:

Required Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree (BCom, BTech, NQF equivalent) in related area and a minimum of 5 years of Finance Co-ordinator experience or any similar combination of education and experience, please submit proof thereof.
Minimum 2 years relevant working experience post articles, please submit proof of articles from a South African recognized accounting body.
Valid driver’s license
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience in MS Office programmes with advanced Excel knowledge
Ability and experience required to administer and execute financial processes and transactions.
Good administrative and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle pressure and is dynamic to change.
Deadline driven.
Meticulous, attention to detail and accurate
Experience in working in a team based in different locations.
Experience in the NGO sector, preferably in an international NGO
Previous experience in working on complex finance systems would be an advantage.
Knowledge or exposure to carbon finance would be advantageous.
