The Lesbian and Gay Community and Health Centre (the LGBTI Centre) is community-oriented wellbeing and human rights focused services, training and advocacy organisation. They provide direct services, outreach youth and community well-being programmes, support and education primarily to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) individuals and/or communities, Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) and Women Who Have Sex With Women (WSW) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). We are a drop-in safe space and Key Populations’ Clinic. Lesbian & Gay Community & Health Centre (a project of the KZN Coalition for Gay & Lesbian Equality).

The LGBTI Centre seeks to appoint a Finance Clerk To perform a variety of financial administrative tasks under the supervision of the finance officer including processing invoices and ensuring proper financial reporting, bookkeeping, and filling on monthly basis as per finance personnel to be based in Port Shepstone and Richard’s Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.

Opportunity Type: 11 months Contract Opportunity 
Start Date: 1 June 2021 

Requirements:
Must have 3 years+ experience working in Finance .
Travel and overtime may be required from time to time.
Must be contactable after working hours.
May be required to work at sites that are under resourced and operate in highly pressurised environment.
Maintain effective working relationships with staff and management.
Communicate effectively with all external stake holders such as donors, Department of Health (DOH), community and other partner organisations.
Key Performance Areas:

  1. Prepare and process financial documents such as bills, receipts and invoices;
                            2. Update and maintain the database, financial records and filing systems;
                            3. Assist with administrative tasks such as filling out forms and filing;
                            4. Prepare monthly reports as per Board/donors requests and recommendations;
                            5. Collect, sort and properly catalogue invoices, receipts, and vouchers;
                6. Keep a thorough record of the organisations transactions and assist with capturing data onto Sage and Pastel
    7. Ensure proper monthly filling of supporting documents;
    8. Assist Senior Accounting Personnel with any other tasks critical towards meeting the obligation of the Financial & Accounting Department;
    9. Research, track and restore accounting and documentation problems and Discrepancies; and
    10. Asset with reconciling accounts in a timely manner.
