APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SUITABLY QUALIFIED LOCAL CANDIDATES
for the following vacant positions tenable in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry:


Position: Finance Assistant
Department: Administration
Grade: E
Responsible To: Assistant Finance Officer
Number of Posts: Three (3)
Locations: Liphofung, Berea, Thaba-Tseka


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Finance Officer, the incumbent is responsible for collecting revenue and trust monies, preparing payments for suppliers of goods, services, and works, and maintaining accurate financial records.


MAIN DUTIES

  1. Maintains proper records of all accountable documents.
  2. Checks all vouchers before presenting them for payment.
  3. Verifies revenue and expenditure returns for submission to the Accountant General.
  4. Follows up on accounts payable and receivable.
  5. Prepares and submits monthly status of funds reports to the Treasury.
  6. Collects revenue and trust monies.
  7. Issues official receipts for all cash received.
  8. Prepares collector’s statements.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education and Training

  • Diploma in Business Studies, Certified Accounting Technician (CAT), or CIPFA Diploma.
  • NB: Membership with a recognized Accounting or Finance Professional Body will be an added advantage.

Only shortlisted candidates shall undergo a competency assessment facilitated by the Assessment Centre (Ministry of Public Service) or a Driver’s Assessment, where applicable.

NB: All applicants are required to submit a verification report from the Council of Higher Education (CHE) or proof of application from CHE.
