JOB DESCRIPTION – NORWEGIAN CHURCH AID (‘NCA’)
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is a faith based Norwegian NGO working for global Justice. Our Policy Office for Southern Africa based in Pretoria works on Resource Governance and Fighting Inequality with programmes and partners in Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. We support civil society and faith-based organisations in these countries to build/strengthen citizens capacity to participate and influence socio-economic development policy processes.
As we seek to further strengthen and expand our work we are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced Finance Assistant to join our small and dynamic team in Pretoria on a 6 month contract with strong possibility for an longer extension.
Main Tasks and responsibilities
Preparing and paying all cash payments
Preparing payments and submitting for approval on the bank system
Finance Assistant is responsible for checking that the vouchers posted into the system have the correct signatories and necessary documentation and are in line with the NCA rules and regulations.
Ensures that all payment vouchers are entered in Maconomy Finance System and up to date
Cash and bank reconciliations
Debtors and Creditors reconciliations
Procurement and logistics -initiation and supporting processes and member of the procurement committee
Responsible for filing vouchers – cash, bank, supplies, manual journals etc
Assist the team on Partner support and monitoring to ensure compliance with NCA and donor requirements
General administration support to the finance and programme teams
Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
Experience working with accounting/finance is an added advantage
Knowledge/Experience of accounting system is desirable
Advanced tech and digital skills – tech savvy
