JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Senior Field Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for supervision of fieldwork, maintaining records, and orientation of Field Assistants.
MAIN DUTIES
1.0 Supervises Field Assistant I and Field Assistant II in the collection of survey data to ensure accuracy and timeliness of returns
1.1 Advises Field Assistants on the physical boundaries of the sample area
1.2 Regularly spot-checks and post-checks the work of subordinates
1.3 Introduces Field Assistants to village chiefs and assists in finding accommodation in strategic villages for their assigned area of operation
1.4 Checks for consistency and completeness of data collected by subordinates
1.5 Trains subordinates on new methods and techniques in data collection
1.6 Collects data to meet specific demand whenever necessary
1.7 Settles misunderstandings between Field Assistants and the public
1.8 Maintains inventory of all equipment allocated to his/her area of supervision
1.9 Ensures proper use of government funds and equipment
JOB SPECIFICATION
- Diploma in Management or any related field
- At least two (2) years of working experience at the level of Field Assistant I or II
OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS
- Supervisory skills
- Ability to orient junior staff
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Knowledge of map reading
