FIELD DEMONSTRATOR

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE
The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Field Demonstrator in the Department of Crop Science.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
For consideration, applicants must hold the following qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Crop Science or General Agriculture plus at least three years’ experience of working in a laboratory and in the field environment;
OR
Diploma in General Agriculture plus at least five years’ experience of working in a laboratory and in the field environment;
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operation and maintenance of field equipment and running of instrumentation in the crop science laboratories.
- Assisting staff and students with research projects in the laboratory and at the farm/field.
- To assist/give guidance, to students who are carrying out laboratory exercises and experiments at the farm.
- To assist in marking student tests set by the course instructor using defined marking criteria where marking requires little or no interpretation.
- To provide feedback on student performance and any issues arising in the course of the demonstration, to the course instructor.
- To be aware of any health and safety procedures, and take action to maintain a safe environment, raising any concerns with the course instructors whenever they arise.
- Maintain student attendance records.
- To consult with the Head of Department before performing the laboratory analysis for any other person except for registered students of the Department.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of the Department of Crop Science.
REMUNERATION
The University offers competitive salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
