In partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ICAP will conduct a nationwide household based survey among children and young adults aged 13-24 years in 2018, also called Violence Against Children Surveys (VACS). VACS will collect information that can be used to estimate the prevalence of emotional, physical and sexual violence against children and youth in Lesotho. The data from VACS are intended to inform the Government of Lesotho to develop and review programs and policies and refine laws related to the protection of children.

LOCATION : All Districts, Lesotho
OVERALL JOB FUNCTION
Reporting to the Project Coordinator- VACS the Field Coordinator will provide
strategic survey implementation support in the planning and implementation
of the VACS in the Region. The Field Coordinator will build the capacity
of the Survey Team Leaders and Interviewers. He ,or she will coordinate
ifeld work with local representative/community members including securing
permission from local community leaders for data collection in selected
clusters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•
- Oversee and review all aspects of fieldwork on a daily basis
- Supervise team supervisors and field workers on a daily basis
- Ensure that field teams adhere to VACS protocol and Standard
Operating Procedures
- Ensure timely implementation of VACS Referral Process in close collaboration with VACS Response Plan Focal Person. This includes the timely and actual referral of eligible clients to relevant health, psycho-social, legal and police services.
- Maintaining adequate and accurate participant records as per’ the study protocol
- Determining readiness for each EA and complete pre-implementation steps
- Ensure that all necessary equipment is available and working properly
- Resolve questions from participants
- Coordinate field work with local representatives/community members
- Plan and implement the training of field teams from time to time during data collection
- Plan the logistics for field work collection
- Participate in community mobilization activities, including the district launches and public gatherings
- Ensure data quality by performing completeness and consistency checks
- Write weekly progress reports that will include the number of completed households and interviews conducted per Enumeration Area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Statistics/Demography/Economics or related field from a reputable academic institution. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in managing and implementing nationwide surveys.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and spoken) skills in English as well as Sesotho.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, etc.
- Proven training and interest in gender based violence, violence against women and/or violence against children.
- Experience in provision of social services and /or counselling experience.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Ability to spend an extended period of time in rural areas and away from home.
- Ability to function independently; results-oriented; detail oriented.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, good attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve and work as part of a team.
