FARM ATTENDANT
The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the above position:
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum qualification requirement is GCE or LGSCE with at least a pass in four subjects including English Language and Agriculture.
- Able to communicate in Sesotho and English.
- Able to work on your own and also as part of a team
- Confident about handling animals
- Careful, when working with machinery
- Physically fit with good stamina
- Experience of working in a similar position will also be an added advantage.
Duties and responsibilities:
1) Clean kraals, stalls, pens and equipment.
2) Examine animals and report to the supervisor signs of estrus, calving, illness, injury and or disease.
3) Groom, clip, trim, and dock tails and shear sheep and goats to collect wool and mohair.
4) Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures.
5) Mark livestock to identify ownership using tags and notches.
6) Milk animals such as cows and goats by hand or using milking machines.
7) Collect, inspect, clean and pack eggs in cartons/trays.
8) Mix feed in prescribed portions as directed by the Farm Manager.
9) Feed and water livestock; and monitor food and water supplies.
10) Plant, cultivate and harvest feed grain and fodder crops for stock.
11) Perform any other duties as required.

The University offers competitive salaries and other benefits commensurate to qualifications and experience.
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years’ Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
