Faculty of Business & Accounting (FBA) Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

Botho University (BU), a leader in academic excellence and research innovation, invites applications from dynamic, experienced, and passionate intellectuals for the following position based at our Maseru Campus, Lesotho. Preference will be given to suitably qualified Lesotho citizens.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Accounting / Finance / Risk Management

Job requirements:

  • To be aware of and follow the University’s Learning Teaching and Assessment Strategy.
  • Ensure that the teaching milestones are followed.
  • Planning and preparing teaching notes & class activities for the lessons.
  • Integration of teaching pedagogies with Information Technology e.g. use of Blackboard
  • Supervising the students’ Academic Projects and/or internships.
  • Share and adapt established best practices in learning and teaching
  • Monitoring student attendance and maintaining student data.
  • Undertake academic advising duties.
  • Participation in departmental/team/faculty meetings as required.
  • To handle the institutional resources appropriately and abide by the institutions’ quality management system framework.
  • To provide support in the development and marking of Assessments.
  • Help in moderation when required.
  • To do the timely submission of marks.
  • Carry out invigilation duties as assigned.
  • Provide students timely and constructive feedback and timely submission of marks.
  • Continually update knowledge and understanding in field or specialism and engage in continuous professional development.
  • To be research active by publishing in specialist subject areas, attending conferences, seminars etc that can improve teaching and learning that can lead to further research.
  • Use leading pedagogical approaches, research-based methodologies, innovative instructional technologies, and comprehensive assessment practices to strengthen teaching efforts and improve student learning outcomes.
  • Promote positive social change through sustainable community engagement activities and related research projects.
  • To perform other duties as allocated by University or Faculty leadership.
  • Must show continuous personal and professional growth and show a high degree of professionalism at the workplace.
  • Handling the institutional resources appropriately.
  • Contribute to the departmental development (e.g community development, proposing new programmes, networking)

Skills and Competencies required:

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a good command of English.
  • Good Organizational skills.
  • Maintain student records and execute various day-to-day administrative responsibilities involved with teaching.
  • Continuously upgrade skills through self- study and work with peers.
  • Be a constructive member of Botho University team.
  • Research and publishing.
