The Commonwealth Secretariat seeks to appoint a Facilities Compliance Officer, in our Human Resources and Facilities Management (HRFM) Division. The Facilities Management Section (FMS) is responsible for the Secretariat’s two office buildings in central London occupied by some 250 staff, together with the Secretary-General’s official residence. The team provides the full range of non IT related building hard and soft services. 

This new role is an excellent opportunity for a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Facilities Compliance professional to join the Commonwealth Secretariat.  You will help drive the improvement and development of strategic and operational governance within the Section, ensuring that FMS delivers a high performing, safe, secure and sustainable working environment for the Secretariat’s staff, contractors, partners and visitors.

You will be involved in assisting in developing Facilities related corporate policies, strategies, and business plans. You will be required to lead with the Secretariat’s ISO 50001 Energy Management system as well as implementing future approved ISO systems across the organisation.  Auditing existing and future Facilities corporate policies and processes to monitor compliance and identify opportunities for improvement will be an integral part of the role, as will managing contracts, and SLA/KPI implementation and monitoring.

This role is for a two year fixed term contract, with the possibility of becoming an established post.

To be considered, you will need to have IWFM Level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management Practice (or equivalent), be NEBOSH certified, ISO Internal Auditor certified, and have membership of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) or equivalent organisation e.g. CIOB, CIBSE etc.

You will also need to have a minimum 3 years’ experience of working in a similar role, within a medium to large organisation; excellent interpersonal and stakeholder relationship management skills; good IT skills; experience of managing a Grade 1 or 2 listed heritage building; previous experience of oversight of ISO 50001 or ISO 140001 energy or environmental management systems; experience of developing and implementing a OHS 18001/ISO 45001 Health & Safety management systems; and the ability to draft service contract specifications including effective vendor SLA’s and KPI’s.
