DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF LESOTHO NATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE (LNCC) AND A 5 STAR HOTEL
As part of tourism development in Lesotho, the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) facilitates for the development of
tourism destination areas to ensure quality and memorable experience of visitors/tourists in any destination.
Maseru CBD is one of the key tourism destination areas that attracts business tourists. Over the past recent years, the LTDC has observed growth of the MICE sector (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) within Maseru CBD and its outskirts such as Thaba-Bosiu Fortress, Matsieng and Morija. Maseru continues to hold international meetings/conferences and events which attract international delegates, whom we consider to be business tourists. The events contribute immensely into the local hospitality and tourism sector, indicating a huge potential for Lesotho to host many other international events.
LTDC has seen an unleashed potential of the MICE sector which requires strengthening of the anchor facility, the Lesotho National Convention Centre (LNCC) by transforming it into a facility that can host multiple international events at a time. The LNCC is situated within Maseru CBD, along the A2 Road, about 500m south of the main traffic circle on a site of 58,847m2. The coordinates of the site are -29.3234758, 27.4978033.
Based on the above background, the LTDC invites interested and experienced investors that will develop a modern and up-market mixed-use property which shall cater for the establishment of:
i. A Green 5-star hotel with a capacity of not less than 100 rooms, presidential and executive suites and standard rooms.
ii. Expand the existing conferencing facility to accommodate a 1000 to 2000 delegates;
iii. Office Suites
iv. Dining chain
v. Indoor sporting arena and more.
The interested bidders will undergo a three-staged process of:
- Presentation of business concepts to an Adjudication Panel, followed by shortlisting to the next stage;
- LTDC issuance of RFP for development of a detailed proposal and shortlisting of top 3 bidders;
- Negotiation and Selection of the preferred bidder out of the submitted proposals.
Submission of the Expression of Interest:
The interested bidder is to submit the following documents:
- Letter of Expression of Interest
- Company profile
- Certificate of Incorporation and Company Extract
- Proof of experience in developing and managing similar facilities
- Business concept of the new LNCC and 5-Star Hotel
- Proposal on community engagement and tourism SME support
- Proof of Financial capacity to support the proposed concept. N.B, the interested bidder shall finance and manage the project at own cost.
